QuoteHead coach Andy Reid revealed Monday that placekicker David Akers is getting a second opinion on his hamstring tear. Meanwhile, Pro Bowl free safety Brian Dawkins is undergoing an MRI on an ankle sprain he suffered Sunday when he collided with linebacker Dhani Jones in the second half.

However, Reid's immediate concern for the moment is defensive tackle, a position which could be down as many as two players next Sunday in Dallas.

Veteran Paul Grasmanis tore his Achilles tendon and will miss the remainder of the season. However, there is a 50-50 chance Darwin Walker could return to the lineup after missing a pair of games with a thigh contusion.

"I think it's coin flip with him right now," Reid said of Walker. "He's making progress."

In terms of a roster move, Reid said he and Vice President of Player Personnel Tom Heckert are contemplating their options. One of those could be promoting seventh-round pick Keyonta Marshall from the practice squad.

Stay tuned...

As for Akers' visit with a renowned specialists, Reid simply said: "We've done second opinions with quite a few of our guys. I think it's important we do those things."

The head coach seemed quite pleased with the efforts of Akers' replacement, Todd France, who bounced back after a blocked kick and booted three field goals and drilled a pair of PATs.

Meanwhile, quarterback Donovan McNabb and receiver Terrell Owens both have pain in their lower ab area, T.O. also has a shoulder contusion. Offensive guard Artis Hicks has an ankle strain. On defense, middle linebacker Jeremiah Trotter (quad contusion) and reserve end Trent Cole (hamstring strain) are both day-to-day with their respective injuries.

ice grillin you

i watched the replay to see what dawkins ankle did and it made me cringe...the same exact ankle twist that he got ive gotten 100 times playing basketball...right when it happens you think your ankle is in two pieces...then two minutes later youre playing with no pain...then it blows up over nite and is really sore for 3-4 days...where upon you can play on it again once its warmed up...there is 110% chance hes fine for sunday
i can take a phrase thats rarely heard...flip it....now its a daily word

I was thinking the same thing IGY.  I've seen that exact injury 100x over in college BB.  Usually keeps a guy out or limits his play in the next game (2-3 days later), and then it's fine.
Anyone but Reid.
