out of all the blinding glimpses of the obvious from the media rabble, most apt and damning is that the team has "settled" into a tier II status - occasionally good but still on the road to nowhere. Not even the rotisserie guys can avoid that elephant. So what does Christina tell Jeff his choices are?

a. Allow Reid to "resign", then boot most of his staff? Red meat for the fans, but one is then left with the dynamic juo in the FO. Even bloated on team revenue koolaid, he's gotta admit getting anyone but unknowns or the desperate to coach under Fagen and the artful dodger could be tough. (otoh maybe if Reid thinks the FO has gotten a tad stale/oppressive he might just leave for a better offer or a larger craft-services table)

b. give Reid more say by jettisoning howie and/or banner? Not likely, but weirder things have happened - 'specially if all it takes is Howie in the volcano.

c. punt - cosmetic changes in coaching staff sold as the "fix" and maybe less rope for Howie during draft days. Bring back most players of any note except jackson, asante, smith and young. draft undersized, fragile DE and obligatory draft day head-case, ignore linebackers and safety, pick QB in 5th round, trade kafka for two 7ths (one in 2013), win 9-11 games cause east doesn't get any better either, early playoff exit. rinse and repeat
