Video game thread

I'm not really a gamer at all, I haven't bought a system since the original Playstation like 12 years ago, but I played the Wii tonight at a friend's house and I might buy one tomorrow.  We bowled for like two hours.  That shtein is fun.

Any of you guys have one?  I know it's more family friendly but I don't play them that much anyway.  Is it worth buying or does it get old quick?  And does it have the standard Madden, etc. games?  I don't know if Nintendo does them.

WII has Madden and other games, but they all have the motion control built in.  Some games it seems to work for the better, some for the worse.   Read IGN.com and gamespot.com reviews.

I picked up a handful of PS2 games.... Bully, Scarface, Midnight Club 3, Okami, Resident Evil 4.   Should waste some good time. 

Resident Evil 4 is amazing. You are going to love it. One of the best games I've ever played.

started Gears of War last night and I really like it.  the weapons are a bit limited, but the graphics and gameplay are great.  this is probably the perfect shooter for me, i don't do well with a ton of stealth and sneaking around, so Splinter Cell probably isn't for me.  i am still leaning towards Rainbow Six: Vegas as my next purchase.

Since I didn't want socks & an Eagles t-shirt to be my only presents, I bought myself a Xbox 360 & a new HDTV for Xmas about 3 weeks ago. I picked up 4 games & just bought Gears of War last week. While it looked absolutely unbelievable in HD, I'm still getting used to the cover feature, so I've been primarily playing my daughter in Halo & Halo 2 until she gets sick of it.

I was really disappointed in F.E.A.R, which didn't feature graphics worthy of a game produced for the 360. Plus, there was not much innovative about it, other than the "slo mo" feature that I've seen in other games before (Max Payne).

My 2 favorite games so far are Half-Life 2 & Halo2, both of which were created for the old Xbox system.

I think the Wii was released with 30 games. More than x-box 360 & PS3 at their respective release dates.  You can just look at game cube's selection of games to see what kind if games are available, but Nintendo's thing with the Wii was to have more games available and better selection.  The other cool thing is you can go online and download alot of old nintendo (super nintendo and n64) and sega genesis games. Yes the Wii has Madden and I read its very cool, alot better than 360 and ps3.  The only problems I have heard so far have been a faulty strap on the one controller. Oh and as of now there is no online gaming feature, but nintendo said they will have an online community soon. Other than that I have not heard anything negative, but I would go to IGN like murp suggested also specific game reviews.  I think it's a solid system and I am probably going to pick it up sometime in the nxt few months. Its only $250!

thanks for the info.  yeah i'm doing some research on it now.  i've been video game-less for way too long, i prety sure i'm going to get one of those bad boys.  the boxing game i played last night almost made me sweat.  good times.

Just make sure you don't throw your controller through the TV.

just read the reviews of madden 07 for the Wii and it looks fun as hell.  you actually have to do the juke moves and shtein.

im already selling my Madden 07 on Ebay for Xbox 360...it's just awful.

That's what I don't understand about the Wii concerning like Madden, NBA 2k7, etc. Get your lazy ass outside and do it fo' real. I can understand the other games though.

my friend and i are (were) madden fiends...but he got it on xbox...i played it once and that was it. I've stuck to ps2 madden 06 since. I do a fantasy draft anyways.

Yea like its real easy to get 5 or more friends together for a pick up game of b-ball or football anyday of the week. Christ most people don't even have that many friends. Ive been trying to get together some friends for a game of football for 2 yrs now.

i've played madden 07 on the Wii...it's pretty close to awesome. best madden game in a long time.
