But the thing is...the Eagles do not have a 6th round pick. They'd have to trade for one (maybe Hollis?) so they could get him. The Skins did this a few years ago when they signed RFA Chad Morton from the Jets. They didn't have the right pick so they traded with NE to get the correct round to give it to the Jets.

Kitna may be moving on

There's little chance Jon Kitna will re-sign with the Bengals.

With the New York Jets at the front of an active market for his services, Kitna very well might get his chance to start again at quarterback.

Kitna might sign relatively quickly if free agency begins as scheduled at 12:01 a.m. Monday, and the Bengals probably would strike quickly to sign a third healthy quarterback for spring and summer field work.

Kitna threw for single-season career highs in touchdowns (26) and yards (3,591) as a starter for Cincinnati in 2003, then gracefully accepted the backup role to Carson Palmer.

"I was OK with (a backup role) the first year (2004)," Kitna said Friday. "Last year, it started in training camp - that desire, the competitive nature, was there."

He said his religious faith is calling him to new work.

"Our ministry in Cincinnati was far greater than I could have expected," he said. "I'm looking forward to the next phase. We did a lot of teen-age Bible study here. The Lord's calling us to do a couple's ministry on a new team."

Kitna and his wife, Jennifer, had their fourth child, a son, after the end of the season.

"It's kind of a transition, a break for my family," said Kitna, a Bengal for the past five seasons. "It's bigger than football."

The Kitna market is so hot that the Baltimore Ravens are expected to back out because they don't want to get into a bidding war.

Janie McCauley, of the Associated Press, reports the Oakland Raiders released QB Kerry Collins in a move to get them below the salary cap by Sunday night's deadline, March 5. By cutting Collins, the Raiders will save $9.2 million against the salary cap once bonuses are factored into the figures.

As long as they upgrade the line with Bentley, etc., I would take a stab at the drunkard.  Would be fun to see him hoist those long passes down the middle of field, twenty yards from the closest receiver. Jets release C Mawae: The Jets have released center Kevin Mawae, the team announced Sunday. Mawae, a six-time Pro Bowl selection, played in New York for eight seasons.

Mawae has played in 180 career games, starting 177 of them. He has also played in seven postseason games.

ESPN's John Clayton reports the St. Louis Rams may not release WR Isaac Bruce after all due to the recent extension of the waiver deadline. Bruce was a cap casualty under the previous deadline, but the Rams may choose to remove his name from that list and continue to use the extra time to work out a new contract with him.

Who knows what's what at this point, but ESPNEWS has "Breaking News" on their bottom line saying that the Rams have indeed released Bruce.
