Hmm....top 13. Orlando Palmeiro walk, Assmus sac bunt, Mike Lamb RBI single. Thats good. Now, bottom 13. Russ Springer walks Eckstein, Edmonds K's. Alright lets look at the stats, Pujols 4-7 HR vs Springer, 1-5 vs Harville. Put in Harville, because stats are AWESOME! 6 Pitches later the Astros lose 4-3.

Marlins Close To Firing McKeon?

QuoteThe Marlins' malaise has deepened to the point where not even manager Jack McKeon appears immune from change.

According to a National League official, the Marlins are giving serious consideration to firing the popular McKeon in an effort to shake up one of baseball's biggest disappointments.

"Everything at this point is being considered -- everything," the NL official said Sunday night.

The top candidate to replace McKeon, 74, would be Yankees bench coach Joe Girardi, the source said. Girardi, a favorite of Marlins owner Jeffrey Loria, could have been the Marlins' bench coach but turned down their offer last fall.

As of Sunday night, a Yankees source said the Marlins had not asked for permission to discuss a possible opening with Girardi, 40. The Yankees source also said the Marlins probably "would have to look elsewhere" for their next manager, although such matters are typically negotiable.

Other names being considered are former Marlins managers Jim Leyland and Jeff Torborg, Devil Rays manager Lou Piniella, former Red Sox manager Grady Little and Braves third-base coach Fredi Gonzalez

ARLINGTON, Texas -- Texas Rangers pitcher Kenny Rogers had another run-in with a cameraman Monday when he turned himself in on misdemeanor assault charges stemming from an earlier tirade against two cameramen.

The three-time All-Star, who is appealing a 20-game suspension and $50,000 fine, was released after posting $1,500 bond. Contrary to earlier reports, there has been no hearing date set for Rogers to appeal his suspension, players' association officials said Monday.

Rogers jawed at a cameraman for Dallas-Fort Worth television station WFAA as he was booked into the county jail. Just as with the incident that led to the charges, the exchange was caught on tape.

WFAA reported on its Web site Monday that photographer Mike Zukerman was videotaping the procedure when Rogers turned to him and said, "You're getting really close; you know that? Do you hear me?"

A few seconds later, Rogers again turned to the camera, saying, "You must be pretty proud of yourself, too."

After Zukerman replied, "It's just my job, Kenny," Rogers responded: "Yeah. Your job. That's just your excuse."

The Rangers declined to comment, referring questions to Rogers' attorney, who didn't return a telephone call.

Rogers, 40, faces a Class A misdemeanor charge of assault with injury in the shoving of KDFW-TV cameraman Larry Rodriguez, Arlington police spokeswoman Christy Gilfour said.

Police also will mail to Rogers' attorney a Class C misdemeanor assault citation for the shoving of Fox Sports Net Southwest cameraman David Mammeli, Gilfour said.

A Class A misdemeanor is punishable by up to a year in jail and a fine of up to $4,000, or both. A Class C misdemeanor is punishable by a fine of up to $500.

On June 29, Rogers lashed out at the cameramen as they taped him walking to the field for pregame stretching. The episode led to Rodriguez being treated at a hospital after the camera was ripped from his hands and thrown to the ground.

Rogers apologized a week later, saying the incident was out of character and would never happen again.

Gilfour said Fox Sports -- which owns the camera Rogers damaged in the shoving of Rodriguez -- has declined to press criminal charges.

Rogers was booed at last week's All-Star Game, but he said he came because he wanted the players who voted for him to know he appreciated it. He didn't want those votes to be wasted.

Before giving up six runs and 10 hits in 3 1/3 innings at Los Angeles on June 22, Rogers won nine straight decisions, a career best, and was the AL ERA leader. It wasn't known until after he pulled out of a start June 28 against the Angels that he had a broken bone in his non-pitching hand by punching a water cooler 11 days earlier.

Trade him to Philly and maybe he'll kill Eskin.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Rome

I had an argument with my buddy on the golf course the other day about Rogers.  His take on it was that we have no idea what led to Rogers freaking out on the cameramen and that his actions could have very well been justified.

My take on it was that Rogers is a fricken bullying wannabe tough-guy bitch who could use a couple hours in a cell with a hard-bangin' muscle-head who'll teach him the meaning of the word respect.

I got the laughs from our other playing partners so I won the argument.

Both the camera man and Rogers need to be smacked around.

The camera man is an idiot for putting a camera up close to Rogers.  IMO, he was taunting him.  Does he really need to get right in the the dude's face?  Doesn't that big ass camera have any type of zoom on it?  I actually wish Rogers would have smacked this dude around.  He probably deserved it.

But back to Rogers......
Ok Kenny, seeing as you are getting booked for assaulting a camera man it's probably in your best interest to just STFU and ignore the dumb sob.  Don't look at the camera, don't talk to the camera, don't acknowledge it's presence.  You'd be amazed how displaying a little tact and self restraint in that situation may have helped you out with your current problem.

Mad-Lad

the Kenny Rogers thing is annoying on so many levels, but the thing that drives me most nuts is the guy who calls up his local sports radio show and says, "I'm a jizzmopper at the adult peep show.  If i got caught shoving a cameraman, i'd get fired.  It's rediculous that Kenny did that and he should be out of a job!"

Seriously.   You aren't a professional athlete so no one cares about you.  Of course you're going to be fired, you're a jizzmopper and are replaceable.  Good pitching isn't something a team wants to get rid of.  Sure Kenny's a jerk, but please... stop calling and being stupid.

Red Sox's Clement Injured by Line Drive

QuoteST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -     Boston Red Sox pitcher Matt Clement was hit in the right side of the head by Carl Crawford's line drive Tuesday night and carried from the field on a stretcher.

Clement remained on the ground and barely moved for about five minutes before he was lifted onto a stretcher and immobilized with a neck brace. Replays showed the force of Crawford's liner knocked the All-Star pitcher completely off his feet.

The ball caromed off the back of Clement's head, just behind his right ear, into short left field for an RBI single. Concerned teammates gathered around the fallen pitcher as medical personnel attended to him on the mound. The crowd cheered as he was carried off, but his arms remained strapped across his chest.

Chad Bradford replaced Clement with Boston leading the     Tampa Bay Devil Rays 5-1.

Five years ago, Red Sox pitcher Bryce Florie was hit in the right eye by a ball hit by Ryan Thompson of the     New York Yankees. The line drive broke several bones in Florie's face and left his vision impaired.

The right-hander tried to come back with Boston the next season but didn't last long and was out of the major leagues by the end of the season. He has not been back since.

Hopefully Clement will be OK and back on the mound soon.
