Who ya gonna pick CSD?
I've known for about a week now but since Murp said the draft doesn't start till Monday, you will all just have to wait until I wake up that day! :-D
well hell, if CSD is all ready we might as well start this thing. Go ahead and draft CSD. of course the #2 pick doesnt have to be selected until monday. ;)
If you say so, I'll get the ball rolling.....
interesting first pick CSD, and a good one too.
Thank you. There was no clear cut choice this year so hopefully it will work out for me.
Gutsy call. ;)
Glad to still have a chance to grab Emmitt Smith. ;)
Good pick CSD, no more RB by committee or RB question marks in Denver, and when you look at what Portis did after he finally became the main RB last season, from that point on you can make an argument he was top 2 to 3 RB in all NFL. Hopefully for you M.Anderson won't be taking any of his TDs in goal line situations as FB or HB. ;)
I wanted him BADLY! :P
I won't be around until most likely late Sunday, so if picks 2-5 decide to get them in tomorrow you'll have to be a little patient. And NO i won't give MURP or anyone a list bkuz by the rules I have until Monday and I want to really really really really really think this one out. Really. ;)
Is it my turn to pick again yet? :-D ;)

What's there to think about? We all know you're going to pick Gagne.
Now, if Tomahawk would just get off of KoRn's mom for 5 minutes...we could proceed with the draft....

any standards?
Murp-- What are the time-restrictions/repercussions for this thing? Just so everybody knows what's what and if they need to get you a list.

It's Monday and my pick is in. I just follow the rules with every endeavor of my life.
So sheep humping is considered a "rule"?
Once Troy picks, the next 6 or so picks should go relatively fast. I may even get to pick this week. ;D

Obviously 15 minutes is not enough to me. :P
C'mon troy....let's get this party moving.
Wake me up when my turn comes. Thanks.
there are no time restrictions right now... i like to let people screw it up for themselves first. If people dont get their picks in and dont send me a list then the time restrictions will go in affect.

don't worry troy, I'll be amazed if MIkey can even find the thread on where to post his pick.
I mean, its labeled, but he might post it on a thread that sort of looks like the same thread.

Damn. Somebody start another Dodgers thread, NB will show up then. :)
I think NB hurt himself thinking about whom to take with his pick.
This does hurt, my whole season lies in the balance and I have to pick between Priest and Marshall both guys coming off years where they were great, and then had injury problems. >:( So shut up! ;) Sorry I'll hurry

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Allright I picked, shut up and move on. :P ;D
That has to be the hardest decision this year, picking between Faulk and his recent 'miss 2 games per season and coming off worst production in years', Holmes and his hip, and McCallister with a question mark at QB among other past history problems.
:boom :boom :boom :boom :boom
Priest Holmes with the 8th pick... I can live with that.
I guess we will find out a little bit about Priest Holmes injury in the game tonite.
BTW, I am leaving work for the day. I will check back online tonite on the off chance that i am up.

earth to GM's... if you are not going to be around and your pick is coming up soon... send me a farging list! Atleast there is a better chance of getting things done quicker.
C'mon, Mikey.
My pick's gonna be made soon but the time hasn't come yet. What a big surprise! Harrison, Owens, Moss, and Manning are still available. At least I can get one of them. 8)

Wow, it's been like 5 hours and still no pick? Geez.... this is going to take forever again.
Sorry everyone. I had a long meeting after lunch and then a softball game so I just got to a computer a few minutes ago. I didn't think the draft would move so fast since it was so freakin' slow this morning. I'll be back on at like 7am to make my next pick and will make a master list to send Murp.
Once again, my apologies.

lol, your lucky you were on the board to make your pick... there was no Rich Gannon on that list you sent me!
if anyone talks to Philly_Crew off the board let him know he is up. (since shorebird is picking right now.)
And I've picked. It's a gamble, but it could turn out pretty good.

I thought someone might pick Harrison and Owens before my turn, so I was gonna take a RB. The reason why my team couldn't win huge was...oops I can't say it till the whole draft is over.
Anyway, I didn't pick Gannon unless PG selected Manning. But you know Gannon was in my team last year and a lifeline of my team. So, he will do a good job in Oakland coz the team is not changed much.
Well i am still one pick away, i won't be online again tonite so I will make my 2 picks first thing tom. morning if Philly Crew picks before then.
You can IM MURP a list for your first pick in case PC picks tonight.
since joneszilla has the first pick in the 2nd round you can IM two picks to Murp.
Hopefully this won't be one of those couple day delays. :-\
This is too simple, joneszilla, just IM MURP 3 picks. that way no matter what, your choices are done. If you are afraid that the third choice will still be there in 30 picks, then it probably is a bad pick anyway!
Phill_Crew can do the same. BTW, Philly_Crew seems to post in the early AM, and late afternoon, so we can probably go to bed now ............
Whew! I was planning on staying up restlessly all night long, especially after Jones said he was going to sleep.;) He's already gone.
Yeah we're going to have to get good at putting lists in. I know I'm not one to talk bkuz I made everyone wait a whole 3 hours, but last year I always put lists in.
My pick is 12 away, but I have no idea how things will go so I'm not going to put in a long list right now, yet I won't be on the net until atleast noon to 1:00pm out here in Cali so that means that if Philly Crew and Jones get it going in the morning my pick could come up early again.
Hopefully I won't hold things up tomorrow, but there's no way I'm putting in a list now. :P
I have a class on Monday nights but am on the board from 6:30AM to 5PM. Not too sure about the James pick. His second year back from the ACL injury and I wonder if he will have the burst that he used to have.
Edge is a good pick here. You could have a steal, I debated on taking him at 10.
I like Edge there. Everyone is a risk at this point. Hell, Holmes is a risk...but I couldn't pass him up at the 8 spot.
...and how about that Holmes with his monster 2.8 ypc last night. Whoo. :-D
At least he was laughing and looking healthy on the sidelines! :-\

You can catch him during the "Jam Session", a five minute segmant he has on Sportcenter every now and then.
I didn't know that. I'll check him out when I go there.
Can't believe i rationalized myself into taking Fred Taylor.....contract year....no Stacey Mack stealing TD's from him. Yeah, And i know he already has a thigh bruise in training camp. Since i picked him, I figure he should be out for the year by week 3 or 4. :( :D
Taking Harrison is smart because he averaged 100 yards per game last two seasons.

Harrison was the easy pick. I knew i wanted him for sure. But I really wanted to get a RB with one of my picks and thought for sure i would land Edge. :(
Thought seriously about taking Tiki but said farg it and took a big risk on Fred 'Hamstring' Taylor.
One of the interesting things about FFL is it doesn't matter how many receptions Harrison makes. WRs have to earn yards and TDs. So, Manning will do a better job than Garcia. Garcia cannot go long.
i emailed PhillyCrew that he drafts again...
once again i recommend sending a list to me if your pick is up soon and you wont be around. otherwise your gonna force me to make time limits with Darnell Autry punishments.

Control your panties people, it was an hour and a half since the last pick. If you think this draft will go non stop without and hour or two here and there in between picks you might as well go to the store and buy an extra amount of tissues bkuz their will be a lot of :'( :'( :'(
I usually don't come on until atleast 3pm eastern time but I came on early bkuz my boss is out, but when you saw me come on and then leave was bkuz I wanted to see if it was my turn and write down who'd been picked and go look around on latest updates on my potential picks, make sure there was no injuries to them or there teammates.
So quit whining and let people take their time with these picks, bkuz there is only one draft and last season I chocked and had the worst draft ever, and that won't happen again! The season doesn't start for over a month.
:P :P :P :P :P :P

As for last night, I put in that post that my pick was 12 away, and there is no way I could put in a list, there were way too many variables, there could have been a serious run on a certain position or something. The way these drafts usually go, 12 picks takes atleast a day so i figured I'd have plenty of time. Good thing i didn't wait until later today. ;D
looking at that list... if you want your kid to be an NFL RB, just name him something odd... like
Clinton
Priest
LaDainian
Marshall
Ahman
Edgerrin
Tiki

Well, since it's a 16 team league I figured any RB at this point is a gamble so why not gamble on the hometown boy? I like to take 2 RB's early and since this is an Eagles forum, I doubt if he would have been there by the time I picked again.
Yup, you're right CSD. If you hadn't taken him with your pick, I was going to grab him with mine.
RB's are at a premium here b/c of it being a big league.

DAMN PhillyCrew!! I wanted Jamal Lewis BAAAAD!! I think you have a good pick there, he could have a bust out year coming back in his second year from the ACL injury he had. It's still somewhat of a risk, but he looked healthy as a horse last year.
Oh well, I'll settle for Tiki. I'm still not up on the scoring, but are reception yards and rushing yards figured into the scores of runningbacks?
We can talk trade shorebird, think we should wait until the end of the draft? Just call my team ACL. I will be dreaming of Edge's and Jamal's recovering ACL's.
I think the receiving yards count for RB just not point per reception. If it had been point per reception, Tiki and Garner would have been much higher IMO.
Scoring Rules offense:
Statistical Categories (Offense): Completions (.5)
Incomplete Passes (-.5)
Passing Yards (25 yards per point)
Passing Touchdowns (4)
Interceptions (-2)
Rushing Yards (10 yards per point)
Rushing Touchdowns (6)
Reception Yards (10 yards per point)
Reception Touchdowns (6)
Return Yards (35 yards per point)
Return Touchdowns (6)
2 Point Conversions (2)
Fumbles Lost (-2)

Yes shore, both count. That is why Tiki is a good pick bkuz he is both a good runner and a good receiver. That's what has made Duce a good backup or no.2 RB the last few years is his receiving ability.
It's the same for WRs, if Terrell Owens runs a reverse for 42 yards, he'll have an extra 4 points for rushing.
Stupid planes!!!
Thanks zilla and NB. It seems some what of a complicated process. Makes me wonder who came up with that formula.
We can wait 'till after the draft Philly_Crew. But I'll definatly talk trade after we see were all the players end up.
Ain't no fun being a GM if you can't wheel and deal!
PSN is back home...should be picking in a few.
;D
Well, NB sent MURP ONE pick, not a list. And PSN picked NBs choice. So, now we all have to wait for NB....again.
wooohooo!
NB is on!
PSN is that your pick? You do know you already have a QB, Aaron Brooks?
I obviously want Bledsoe, but I can take another QB no problem. But 2 QBs in first 3 rounds? You do know you only get to start one QB don't you?
Great. I'm sure his pick is mere hours away.... 8)

Doesn't look like there's a chance in hell i pick tonite. i will talk to you all tom.
By the way, your "list" of one, by definition, isn't a list.

Man you all are some serious biAAAAAAAAtches. I took an extra 15 minutes after PSNs. I should be allowed that.
As for the list comment, the guy ahead of me had made two picks, one of them a QB. I have never seen someone take 2 QBs in the first 3 rounds, it's unheard of. So I put in Bledsoe, thinking it was a slam dunk.
15 minutes people. :P ::) :P
You got more stories than Walt Disney.
You had all day to decide on who you wanted, you shouldn't have needed 15 extra minutes.
Its a list, NB...I said, "make a LIST". If you had done that, like you said you did, there'd be no issue here.
I wish people would stop explaining strategy and throwing undrafted names around ..... let people make their own mistakes, and bust their balls later. Now that I joined the crowd and bitched about something .....

Two QBs? We have 16 people and there should be 32 starting QBs. So, I don't think picking two in these early rounds is safe. :paranoid

And yet your screen name was still on this site the whole time. hmmmmmmm. Did you leave your comp on at home so that could happen, or when your computer at work "crashes" somehow you are still on CF? :-D
Obligation, good one. Sorry but I have plenty of obligations more important than a FFL. If you were around last year, as you were you know I was in it from beginning to end, still talking ISh in the last weeks even though my pathetic team was out of it before the midway point, didn't have any problems in draft, and stayed competitive until the end, that is not my point.
My point is, I cannot afford to be on CF 24/7 so that my pick will get in for your pleasure. And I cannot always give a list, when my pick is more than 10 away. That's just not possible, if I did that I'd end up with a bunch of players I shouldn't have picked due to different variables that come up during the draft.
Obligation. :-D you are killing me.

In other words, when I login, I check the same box and it keeps me logged so that anytime I get on the computer I don't have to log in.
But that has nothing to do with your PhillyGirl name being on this sites front page the whole time your comp supposedly crashed, bkuz whenever you turn your comp off or it crashes you are not on the site, but when you turn your comp back on you are already logged in.

Was your screen name on the bottom of the first page as a person who is ON/active the computer all night long. No bkuz it doesn't work that way, you turn your comp off, whether you log out or not, and you are NOT on the list as an active poster.
Whether you click the stay logged in button or not, when you turn your comp OFF, your name is NO longer on the front page/CF index page as an active poster. Hers WAS the whole time.
MURP I picked 10 minutes ago, catch up.

yes, using a highly scientific method, i have come up with the great theory of minimumization listing. This technique employs submiting a list that contains enough names to ensure that when you are up to draft, you will have atleast 1 player left on your submitted list.

Acutally, I sent a list before (as well as last night). I think it should be a rule that people should have to submit a list with twelve names for the current round if they aren't going to be around. That way, you're covered for that round. If you see you're up in fivepicks, but have to leave-- how hard is it to send murp a list with six names? You're bound to get one of those guys.

Reason I say that is because we were allowed 3 wild card spots every week to play anyone we wanted.....so you could play 4 qb's every week if you wanted to. Qb's and Rb's also accounted for the most points in that league so they are always the first to go. Receivers didn't get didly for points. Just gotta readjust my strategy.
A league with 3 wild cards spots, yeah I can see where'd you get that mixed up with this one. :P
What was that the beginners league for FFL? That's crazy.
I don't know if it was a beginners league or not. Just some league that a bunch of guys at work had been doing for a while. It was fun....very high scoring, but fun.

It sounds like a fun league, I was just playing on the beginner thing, like you said high scoring. You should play in the salary cap league, it is high scoring, fun and way different.
hopefully they'll get it up and running soon enough. :boom
we had 1,2,3, and 5 on at the same time. If we just would have had 4 on I could have gotten my other pick in today.
I got to leave to get minor foot surgery done today in 2 hours. man I hate needles, especially when they stick them in a hundred times all over your foot. (chills)
We had a cap too....somewhere around 35 mil I think.
Don't forget to turn your list in. ;D
[bill clinton voice] That depends on your definition of the word list [/clinton voice]
Good luck with the foot surgery btw. I'm sure you'll be much more comfortable once you get it removed from your ass. ;D

Please accept my apologies. I ended up being out of the house all day when I did not expect to be or I would've submitted MURP a list.
But after seeing that everyone n front of me pretty much grabbed up all of my top otions, I might've been stuck either way.
Once again, sorry :)
I sent my list in. I'm in the field all day sweatin' my balls off. I have Peerless Price and Isaac Bruce. I don't mind, it's the nature of the beast. Although, I could have gotten' Heap.
I sent in a list, but my much needed 4.5 hours of sleep turned into a 65 minute nap. :boom
You all suck.
It's fun watching your team take shape. After seeing how things went, I believe my next list for tommorow will be a little different though. I still need a tight end. Somebody already has all the good ones though. :-\

There's 10 picks before me....uggh. I'll be back on around 7am...at which point, I will surely still be awaiting my turn.

Let me ask the question. I wrote Bill Percells. :flipoff ;D :-\
If theres seven rounds, how do you go about picking players for your bench?
Fools- Philly Phreak only sent in picks for rounds 5-7 because he anticipates being back to pick for the 8th round at worst. Some of us are not sending in lists of 40 players/teams to MURP. However, I suggest you do so immediately since your teams seem to be on autopilot anyway :D
MURP, anyone else on T-Hawks list besides ancient Jimmy Smith. I'm sure he has Fred Barnett or some other fossil on it.
Goodmornin yall.

That was my thinking...that he'd be solid, if unspectacular, in Mooch's offense (actually, he's been quietly solid for a few years). It was just a question of going for some guaranteed points, or swinging for the fences with a sexier pick. I toyed with going with a different position, too, but there's a dearth of reliable RBs and I couldn't take the chance.

Hey, no problem guys. I'm here to help. Now stick your fingers in an electric socket and I'll try to have those lists to you before your dead. ;)
I wonder what it's like to be MURP in this thing.
you get all the lists, and you know who might be going off the board so you can potentially adjust your draft likewise.
Then again it must suck to know who might be going off the board, especially when you want that guy, it might take a little of the surprise and suspense out of it.
Then PG gets some inside info as well. :P
Any comments on what this is like MURP, a little good and bad from it?
No, he doesn't even look at them until its that person's time to draft. He's as fair as it gets.
And the one time I went to check on someone's for him, I only looked at that one.
I have a draft strategy. What others do is their own business.
Personally I don't have a problem sending Murp a list at all. I've never been given a reason to doubt his integrity. Sending him a list of players is no different than giving your paycheck to the bank teller every week. He/she can walk off with it anytime he/she wants, but you give hand it over without a second thought.

Sheez, I was NOT implying cheating in ANY way I assure you.
I was just curious what it is like. Personally I would HATE to do that. I fully 110% TRUST MURP to do a good and fair job. I did not mean it that way.
I was joking about you having inside info too. ::)
heh, you weren't around 2 years ago when I manually did all of the MATH for our FFL. We didn't do an online league like Yahoo. It was all done on here and GF had started off doing it, but by the 5th week, somehow the system he was using became a pay site so I ended up doing it all. Every players stats, figuring out the points, adding them up, doing the standings...BLECH. Took me hours to do. :-\
NoneBetta, MURP has proven over the past three years that there is no reason to worry about anything like that.

So GF gave you the ole' "it became a paysite excuse huh?" :-D Before you start on me, I am not calling GF a liar, just playing. Sheesh. ;D

Well hats off to you, that is some crazy but commendabel stuff. I don't think I could do that (don't everyone agree with that too fast >:() nor would I want too.
My head hurts just thinking about all the stuff I'd have to deal with to do that. :bash
Have lists for Reidme and Mikey?
no list for Reidme. believe me, if i did it would have been done by now.
to answer your question about the lists NB:
The lists dont help me do my draft. I only have about 4 lists at a time and i cant think of a single time (this year or last) were it altered my draft strategy. I keep to my own strategy and dont worry about what others have on their lists. The lists are strictly used to speed this up. Otherwise we couldnt have a 16 team offline draft. (and therefor no CFFFL) And we cant get 16 people online at once to do the draft... and you sure as hell dont want to do the autodraft! So the lists have no bearing on what i do.
And i dont help PG at all... she has asked me before about players to see my opinion on them... i dont give her an opinion. ;D
I "ran it by" MURP to see what he thought.
:P
You should help your girl out MURP by giving bad advice.

Hey, I'm using my draft chart and taking the "best availible player" and Gardner was it. Laugh now, but he came on strong at the end of last season and was ranked 66th overall in FF at the end of last year...and considering this is like the 104th pick...I'd say that's good value PUTZ.

Dude I was serious. That is a very very good pick for the 7th round.
And I'm not a putz. :'( :'(
I was puzzled which to choose; Meshawn or Gardner. :-\
That's a tough one, but MeShawn is basically the #1 although the last couple years his TDs have been low.
Gardner is a very good WR, and being in the second year of that wide open system and having L.Coles next to him, this could be a good year for him.
BTW I picked Garnder last season and that was around the 5th or 6th round. I shouldn't have last season because although his season numbers look respectable, he was VERY inconsistent (remember he got benched for a game or two and was having trouble part of the year), but this season he will be a good/solid #2 or #3 fantasy WR. I think with Coles over on the other side and him being in the system it should benefit him.
So, each of us should have two starting WRs, right?
Yes two talented starting WRs in the second year of their current offensive systems and second year under same coach which is more than I can say for my L.Coles on the other hand who is in new system with new coach. ;D But that's what Joe Horn is for. ;)
Everything gonna be allright! ;)

I had Shipp targetted for my next pick. Farging farg farg farggers.
Done! Now PG's turn.
I just made PG's pick. That's all I have lists for, so leave me alone now. ;D

Blah.....no list for Reidme...so I gotta wait to make my next pick...
and this is a HUGE pick for me...it's my sleeper pick of the draft.
Reidme is holding things up? Get out...
Dude-- SEND A LIST!
I'm stepping away from my desk for 15-20 minutes. I'm betting we'll still be waiting on Reidme when I get back. Any takers?
;D
There's nothing I can do now. Okay, see you tonite! :-*
Yeah...what he said
Seriously, this a stupid waste of time. There's no reason this thing shouldn't be moving.
Whats everyone's schedule like for this weekend?? Are we gonna try and make this thing move or do we only draft on weekdays? j/w
Um...tomorrow morning i'll be getting eagles tickets, tom. night am going out, and Sunday I'll be down at Penn's Landing for a concert: Something Corporate, G Love & Special Sauce, and 311.
If I have a time span, I can do my bestest sat afternoon and sunday morning :-)...and late at night.
BE SAFE-- send a decent list and check in when you can.
I will be on tom. morning but then i am heading to shore. i will be back on Sunday afternoon/nite. i will send MURP a list tom. morning before i roll.
PSN...you're up in the Keeper.... ::)

Unfortunately, I do not enjoy internet connectivity away from the workplace. I will be sure to send a list (this is assuming a list can be formed by sending the name of ONE athlete :flipoff)
I have no clue what the plans are for the draft over the weekend. I know for cheap bastich like T-hawk who can't connect away from work, sending a list would be a pain in the patootie. He'd be sending a list of at least 50-75 names just to make sure he has enough to cover. I'm sure others have stuff planned as well. I know this is my last weekend with my daughters and they leave Sunday, so I'll probably be away too. How did you guys do this last year?
QuoteHow did you guys do this last year?
Poorly.
Look, just take a look at the nfl and list some of your top sleepers. Go as deep as you can. If your draft is hinging on who you take at this point, you're in more trouble than you can fix anyway. Let's keep it moving.
I'll be around....as usual. :-\
You had the 420th post. 420 heh.
I don't get it. What's so special about the 420th post?
420 is a special number. Nevermind though...I'd hate to get this thread off-track and not have Zanshin be able to bitch anymore.
Anybody know where the farg Reidme is?
I'm off to lunch ladies. Be back in about 90 minutes. Hopefully Reidme will show up before then.
About farging time. SEND A fargING LIST NEXT TIME. :boom
I called that one Mikey. I thought hard about taking him too.
I like the Jones pick, Mikey. i was going to take him as well but i decided to take Duce at the last minute. :-\

Yeah, if Jones was gone I was gonna either pick a top Def./Kicker left or take a gamble with Duce. Both Jones and Duce could be potential late round steals - which are HUGE when you're picking in a 16 team league.
Honestly, Pats D is the only one I would have taken there. Otherwise I would have gone a different direction.

hold up im making a round 9/10 thread right now..
MURP had a list, but I got here just in time to take an overrated player. ;D
Once overrated. Anyone drafted in these late rounds can't be all that overrated!
I'm talking about in real life, in the NFL.
BTW Zanshin & others, you do realize the regular season doesn't start for approx. a month don't you? Relax and let people enjoy the draft, if they can't be on here 24/7 or fail to give a list, there other things in life to do.
We started this early for a reason, we are already almost in the 9th round, we are on pace to finish and have 3 weeks left until the season starts.
Relax, use your Zanshin/Gthistle stuff to meditate or take some valium. ;)

That's, as usual, not the point. Since people know we're drafting, they make it a point to be available. And the people who don't show on time or provide a list farg it up for everybody else who is being responsible.
It sucks to know you're turn is up soon and have to keep checking back because someone isn't around or didn't send a list. It has nothing to do with when the season starts...at all.
People can both enjoy the draft and not bring it to a halt-- just send a list. It really isn't that hard to shoot a number of names to murp if you can't be around for a few hours.
QuoteIt sucks to know you're turn is up soon and have to keep checking back because someone isn't around or didn't send a list. It has nothing to do with when the season starts...at all.
yeah I admit it is frustrating and annoying but not the end of the world. you know if your turn is up, and the person in front of you isn't around, then take your own advice and turn in a list. It's not that hard. Why do YOU have to be there for your pick and can't just relax, give a list and let it go without raving on people who aren't here.
If it is no big deal and it isn't hard, then when your pick is coming soon with someone in front of you who is holding up the draft and is absent.
Leave a list and relax.

So let me get this straight. You want the people who are here and waiting to make their pick to leave a list but you have no problem with the people who are holding up the draft by not being here and not sending in lists?
Where did they find you?
It's ok. He's from the left coast. ;)
People had better send lists in.
CSD, read slowly. I was simply saying that if someone such as Zanshin comes on and his turn is up soon, and if the person/people in front of him happen to be absent and obviously haven't left a list, then instead of waiting hour after hour and spending most of that time going off on this thread about how mad you are, just leave a list and check in time to time. According to him it isn't hard to leave a couple names, then he doesn't have to spend all day waiting and being pissed.
I didn't say that people who are here should leave a list, and people who aren't here shouldn't. :-X

Seems to me that instead of getting on Zanshin for doing what he is supposed to do, you should be getting on the people who aren't doing what they should be doing. Get your priorities straight.
Whatever CSD, I was just simply encouraging Zanshin and others to relax and enjoy and try not to spend too much time on this draft from an impatient/negative frame of mind.
I wasn't "getting on" Zanshin for anything, just saying that he and others should relax.
If you people think this is that important, and everyone needs to be on piont, exactly on time and there is no room for any delays, then you obviously need to get your priorities straight. This is for fun, a hobby, a game, calm down.
IMO, we should all calm down. There will be fifteen rounds and we are at the bottom of round 8, over half way there in five days. Is there a rush to get this done by a certain date? I understand the frustration of sitting here and waiting for a pick but let's not take the list thing too far.
IMO picking the players is the fun part. Otherwise, MURP can sit with a cheatsheet and draft for everyone. If someone is gone for more than half the day, then leave a list.

All everyone has to do is send a list. It's not rocket science. Well, maybe for you it is, but it shouldn't be hard for everyone else. Send a list and the problem is solved.
exactly my point Philly Crew, what is the rush?
CSD you aren't even talking to me or responding to my posts, you are just talking nonsense. I know we should leave a list, never said we shouldn't. Did I make a mistake and not leave a list 2 times already? Yes, my bad. Not the end of the world though.
Fact is people don't leave lists, people aren't on here 24/7 they have lives to live. People make mistakes. it's a game, it's FFL. Why try to make it some important meeting, or like it's our job or obligation. This is for fun, to get AWAY from the stress of deadlines and jobs. No need to be anal or take it so serious.
So when people make a mistake and don't leave a list, and aren't on, don't freak out. Relax and leave your own list so you dont have to sit around being pissed off and wait all day.
No it doesn't take rocket science to figure out. But it also doesn't take a mere child to point out that this is just a game, calm down and enjoy. This isn't real life, this isn't a job, this isn't the army, this is FANTASY football.
If I could just add my 2 cents here on the subject, hopefully we can settle the issue and enjoy the rest of the draft.
The list thing is a good idea if your pick is coming up and you know there's a good possibility you'll be gone. But if you log out and theres 15 picks before it comes back to you, that's kind of unreasonable to ask someone to submit a list that far out. There have been times when I've watched the board for an hour waiting for my turn and nothing happens. Then I walk away from my desk for 10 minutes and when I get back I've got 3 or 4 messsages saying it's my turn to pick.
I think the list is a good idea if you're going to be away for and extended period of time....like a day. If you take off for an hour, no biggie. This is the reason we're not doing a live draft anyway, so let's stop acting like we should all be online as soon as it's your turn to pick.
NB... you missed it when i said this is my life, this is my job, this is the CF Army, and its REAL Football!!!!! 8)
::) That coming from the guy who said his picks were to important to entrust to a list. Be consistent at least.
Maybe we should have two drafts-- one for people who are responsible and another for those who don't care if other people are waiting around and want to drag it out?
Waiting and checking back isn't fun...that's the point. If you can't be here just leave a list. What's the big deal. How can you forget to do that, unless you're retarded?
To be honest, I don't care about the acutal draft-- I do care that some people are being inconsiderate of the other players. There's a difference.

To be honest, I don't care about the acutal draft-- I do care that some people are being inconsiderate of the other players. There's a difference.
Both of you must understand that most of the delays are not bkuz someone didn't leave a list when their pick was only 3-5 picks away. It is when their pick is 15-20 picks away that most people check out and do other things. And for you to expect people to sit down and spend an hour to come up with a list of 15-20 players so that you can pick on time is stupid. We have real lives.
I'll try this one more time larribee. I understand waiting and checking in isn't fun. I understand people should be here, or if they are not should leave a list. That is the right thing to do, and the responsible/considerate thing to do.
But why do YOU sit around and bitch and get mad and let it get you frustrated, when YOU yourself could just leave a list, and NOT have to sit around and wait for those inconsiderate people?
It's simple, instead of being negative, impatient, ranting and raving, leave a list. Why sit around and just be pissed off? That doesn't make sense. posting about how pissed you are doesn't make your pick come any quicker does it?
Yes CSD it is funner to play the game than sit around waiting/watching. But you cannot control what SIXTEEN people are doing 24/7, we have other things in life to do.

Look Zanshin, there have been WAY more than 2 people, that is complete and utter horseshtein. the first day was on the MONDAY that the draft started, and I didn't get to take my lunch until after 1:00pm out here on west coast. And yet you all were waiting for me to pick at 10:00am. I was at work, I could do NOTHING about it. I didn't send a list, I forgot, I made a mistake. I came on around one and the draft went on.
the NEXT time I caused about a 20 minute delay bkuz someone took my one pick. Again I made a mistake bkuz I only turned in one pick, my bad.
That is the only real delays I have done. So get over yourself and this high and mighty responsibility thing, bkuz there have been plenty of people, if not almost everyone in the draft that has had as many delays as I have.
Talk about clueless. Do you have some sort of magic timetable? i mean as far as I or anyone that has been around during this draft can see if they have half a brain, is that there is NO exact science to know when a pick will come up. People have real lives, people make mistakes, and when someone is on the internet one day and their pick is 20 away, then they leave without a list bkuz they don't have time to make a list of 20 and come back late the next day to find everyone has been waiting, who cares.
Two picks can take 8 hours, and 12 picks can be done in 30 minutes. It is VERY up and down and all over the place. There is NO way to have what you call an idea of when to check back in. That is just nonsense.

I just want the draft to be over so I don't have to worry about it any more. After two or three more picks, I'll probably absolve myself from the proceedings as I'm sure that'll be enough of a team to whoop all your asses. :flipoff
LOL. Sorry Shorebird. Now all Staley has to do is get his ass to camp, get back on Reid's good side, and beat out CBuck for the job. :paranoid This is a pick that i hope doesn't pan out. I want Buck to have a killer year.
Newsflash, NB...the people doing the RIGHT thing shouldn't be penalized.
This isn't about the people who leave lists or are here within a reasonable amount of time to make a pick. It's about the people who are too forgetful or self-centered to know that they're holding things up.
By the way, I do leave lists...regardless of whether I'm here or not.

if you really go look at my original post on the topic, it wasn't anything personal, it wasn't an attack on you or the "responsible" people, it was really and honestly a suggestion or as I said earlier an encouragement to not let this get you frustrated. It was an attempt to say that you should enjoy this, and not let people who make mistakes or don't leave a list to get you worked up.
It shouldn't be personal, I don't know you and you don't know me. You saying this makes no sense and shows some ignorance on your part

as if you could follow this statement with anything to prove either way. That is just nonsense if you think you can. I don't like the implications you are making either, but I'm not surprised to see you thinking you can make judgements on someone over a few posts. Nothing new there, pretending to know about who has a life, or who is stupid by the few posts they put on a MB is purely pathetic if that is what you are implying you can do.
It became an argument when a couple people made this a more of an "why are you attacking me" argument and a petty attempt at making me out to be the irresponsible person in this thing. Which if you took time to look at the delays in the draft, I am no different than atleast 50% of the people in this draft in terms of the amount of delays, and the time those delays took. I would LOVE to see you prove otherwise as to me being anymore at the heart of the delays than most of the people on here.

ok my brain is in overload.. .between the 2 drafts, multiple IM's per minute, phone calls, and arguments over who is gonna farg up enough to get Autry rewarded to them... and now i gotta go fax some shtein to a bunch of corporate tards. ill be back in an hour when the brain is clear and i can sort out all the lists.

:-D :-D :-D
Let me pat myself on the back a little here.
Marshall Faulk is Faulk. Even if he does miss 2 games to minor injuries, he still is more valuable then 90% of the RBs and is a TD monster.
Eddie George is guaranteed starter, a great #2 fantasy RB in a 16 team league who even though people said he is not what he used to be had almost 1,200 rushing yds. and close to 1,500 total yards and 14 total TDs last season.
Brad Johnsons is secondary I admit but last year threw for over 3,000 yards and threw 22 TDs with only 6 INTs in ONLY 13 games played. He is in his second year of passing Gruden offense, as are his WRs and players around him. His oline is much improved.
Joe Horn is top tier WR, as is L.Coles although Coles is more #2 this season being on the lowly taterskins and in new system.
Akers is top kicker or one of top, as is Miami defense is top defense with turnovers, sacks, points allowed, etc.
My weakest point is my TE in Freddie Jones, but is in second year on team, with a QB who loves throwing to TE, last year Blake made Todd Heap 2nd best TE in fantasy football.
I'd almost be happy with this if it was done in a 12 team league.
Am I the best team? No, but I am happy with it. ;) :P
You're up in the CF League..... ::)
LOL @ Troy. Where have I seen those I have nothing but sarcasm to contribute before? Oh yeah, when it was my turn to pick. ;)
I completely forgot about the NYG defense. Good pick for the 9th, especially after someone tripped up and picked the Bills defense :-D
alright, im going to go enjoy Friday night... you all should do the same. So the draft isnt getting past my pick tonight. No need for any of you to wait around. Ill be on around noon tomorrow.
I'm home sick tonight. If Reidme makes his pick, I'll pick.
Going to bed early though...gotta go attempt to get tickets tomorrow morning.

This was not my fault. I sent MURP a list for Round 9, complete with a series of names, not just one, before I left for Springsteen, arond 4:30 pm or so .....
Then I will have to wait until next morning. :-\ I don't care though.

This should be incleded in the rules next year. :D
Alright, I want to know what everyones team is looking like, compared to mine anyways. If you are so inclined, let's see the teams so far.
QB Kurt Warner
RB Tiki Barber
Marcel Shipp
Michael Bennett
WR Peerless Price
Isaac Bruce
TE Doug Jolley
I will probably lose in week 3. My both starting running backs will have bye week. :P
In a sense, I am lucky cause I can keep those two rbs in my roster exept the week. 8)

Very true. IMO, if you aren't gonna' be around, and don't send a list, then get bent when people complain, you should have thought about it before you signed up.
Phillygirl is up. She is also sick, so she's getting probably getting some needed rest.

I wanted to Patriots Defense, but Zanshin, being an a-hole, drafted him right before me, just as he did with MARTY BOOKER.
I would rather not have a team at all than have to look at my roster and see:
New York (DEF-NYG).
Besides I think Buffalo will do alright. Fletcher is good as is Spikes (some people wanted him to be an Eagle).
Wasn't the Atlanta D still around too, that would have been better. Oh well, you have your reasons. Buffalo :-D

I'll be on and off CF today checking back, but I gave MURP a list with plenty of names, and I will be checking back. I don't know when MURP will be on, but I don't trust giving the list to any of you other bastiches >:( and besides Mikey probably won't be on here until another 32,000 hours. ;)

LOL...when was I ever on your case? That's it, I'm taking Booker every year.
From next year forward, my first pick of every draft is going to be MARTY BOOKER. I'm such a draft day genius, I'm sure I could offset such frivolity with my later picks.
This farging sucks. I wait online all day long on a god damn dial-up connection and still don't get to make my picks.

ok.. this is what i have for lists
I got a list for Mikey in the keeper league.
I got a list for Thawk, NB, Shorebird and Zanshin in the CFFFL.
thats what i have as of now. If you need to send a list in feel free to do so.
Murp...just to let you know i'll be around all week to make my picks...so you can discard my lists. Thanks for using them how I wanted for my other ones ;D
How many rounds is this draft going to be??
15?
Yeah...it would be nice to know...since I only have 2 more picks that I MUST draft...but could always use more depth at other positions.
Going off MURP's original post about CFFL, it is fifteen.
I believe they are usually 14, 8 starters and 6 backups.

well atleast there are a couple people in the league who use have some sense..
15 rounds.
8 starters. 7 bench players.
all you have to do is check the league settings.
I thought Kevin Johnson was already picked?
(or maybe Mark Eckel picked him.....)
15 rounds?! YEeeeeesss! I knew there was an extra round 10 in there somewhere for some extra depth than normal. Good I'll need it. Great news. :afro
So has someone taken Pittman yet? I can't find his name on the draft tracker thread or any of the rounds yet? Even with his bleak legal problems, I'd think someone had taken a chance on him.

Here's my team keeping in mind that I'm picking blasted 15th in a 16 rounder
QB Trent Green
Tommy Maddox
Jay Fiedler
RB Edgerrin James
Jamal Lewis
Mike Alstott
WR Donald Driver
Derrick Mason
Travis Taylor

DEF Oakland Raiders

Of the teams listed on the thread so far, I think Troystewart has the strongest. Mine is too dependent on RB's coming off injury
There are a couple of good teams, considering how deep the league is.

Now that he has been drafted, am I trippin or didn't Kevin Dyson have a season ending injury? Or is he going to play now, or maybe later in the season? :paranoid
Dyson is on Carolina now and i think he is still nursing a hamstring from last year.
I know Dyson is in carolina, but I could have sworn that earlier in the summer he did something to end his season, like his achilles or something.
He did tear his achilles tendon.
He said he's going to TRY to rehab fast and get back this year, but its highly doubtful.
You are right:
08-04-2003
SKINNY: Dyson no longer needs crutches following surgery to repair his ruptured Achilles' tendon. He's walking with a soft cast, which will itself come off soon, the Charlotte Observer reports.
DATE: 06-09-2003
STATUS: News SKINNY: Dyson (torn Achilles') is expected to go on the Physically Unable to Perform list this week, meaning he can't even practice with the Panthers for the first six regular-season games, the Winston-Salem Journal reports.
DATE: 06-04-2003
STATUS: News SKINNY: Dyson tore his left Achilles' tendon in practice on Wednesday and could miss the season, the Associated Press reports.
Thats a good team NB. Whos ur QB??
That's what I'm forgetting (on purpose) ;)
Allright, Brad Johnson, but I got him in the 5th round.
Last season he was in his first year of Gruden's system, and so was the Oline, RBs and WRs. They were all new to it, and struggled until the end when they took off. Brad and the offense will be in second year.
Last year Brad through 22 TDs in only 13 games, while only throwing 6 INTs and he threw for over 3,000 yds in that short time.
If he can stay healthy, he'll be good enough IMO, compared to all the other mediocre QBs out there.
:'(It took me 2 weeks of therapy to be able to admit that. Wheewwwww!

I'd tend to agree with you. ;D
with both of your RBs being in the second year off injuries, you could have a stud tandem.

Gave you a list...just in case.
PhillyPhreak32, you sneaky bastich! You took troystewarts backup QB just before his turn! And Garcia with that nasty hemmoraging and bulging discs and whatnot! I can't believe you did that ... in this round ... because I was gonna do it next round! :P
Good work PP32. ;)
Troystewart, after looking at your team on the Final Roster thread it looks like whoever said you had the best looking team was right. Looks like you have pro-bowlers at every position.
Considering were I picked (14), I'm not too bad off I guess. A lot of guys I wanted were gone by the time it came around to me though. In the first couple of rounds, it seemed like half my list was burnt before I even picked. :'(
I'll have to agree that right now, on paper that Troy's team looks the most solid. His QB and RB situation with Garcia/Brady and LT/Martin looks like the best 4 players 'collectively' on one team and those are the positions that matter. His WRs are questionable, but solid, his defense is very questionable with all the youth, but this isn't a league where defense matters much, and his TE is mediocre, but so is everyones team other than the top 3. His kicker is solid.
On paper, Troy you had a very solid draft. Good stuff. ;)
PG this will make you happy with one of your late picks. 8)

A couple notes from the story:
QuoteThe possibility of actually having Foster play in the regular season has many within the Panthers on guard. In fact, most are trying to downplay how quick he has looked. But last week after going full speed, full contact and actually getting into a fight with linebacker Lester Townes on his second hit of the day, Fox needs to muster all his strength not too get too excited.
"I'm telling you if we get this kid back, he's going to open a lot of eyes," said Fox. "We don't want to force him into things too quickly, but so far he has passed every test. There has been nothing he has not been able to do. We're having him work once a day, but the real test will be when we put him in there in one of those preseason games.
"But if he's fine, he's going to have a very big impact on our team this year." (Coach Fox quote)
A late pick for you that could pay dividends in terms of RB depth for you later in the season. ;) This is good to read, i always hate to see a player get hurt, especially before his career even starts.
BTW did anyone hear that Hugh collapsed during practice in Jax? Don't think it was serious and I don't think he was even hospitalized, but man players are droppin like flies out there.
He didn't "collapse". He felt a little sick and walked to the "cooling room".
Way to blow it up there NB.

(Dice Man voice)
I've noticed that there are some players that werent' drafted who warrent keeping close tabs on during the season. If you are interested in one, I guess it just depends on who claims what player first. Will there be a thread for roster moves and what not?
Here's the info. ;D
QuoteFree Agents << Previous | Next >>
All unowned players who have cleared waivers are free agents and are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. You can pick up or drop players by simply clicking on the Pick Up Player or Drop Player links located near the top of your Team Page. All claimed players will immediately be added to your bench. It is up to you to move them to starting positions.
You can drop players without replacing them, but you can only pick up players without dropping anyone if you have less than the maximum number of players on your roster. You will never be allowed to exceed your league's roster limit.
If you drop a player from your roster, he will immediately be placed on waivers. You will then not be allowed to reclaim the player until after the waiver period expires.
Before the start of the season, all undrafted players will be placed on waivers, with those left unclaimed then being treated as free agents. You can find out the length of the waiver period for your league by clicking on the League Settings link on your league home page.
Waivers << Previous | Next >>
All players dropped from a team's roster are immediately placed on waivers. During this waiver period -- two days in Public Leagues and anywhere from zero to seven days in Custom Leagues -- anyone in the league can claim the player.
So, if a player in a Public League is dropped on a Wednesday afternoon, all coaches can claim him until Friday at 11:59 pm PT. The player will then be assigned to their new team roughly 4-8 hours after the claim deadline.
To find the length of the waiver period in your league, check the League Settings page, which can be found via a link on your League Overview page.
If more than one coach claims the same player, the team that is highest on the Waiver Priority List is given the rights to the player. The priority list is initially set based on the reverse of the draft order. However, each time you add a waived player to your roster, you are pushed to the back of the list, so the team with the lowest waiver priority will always be the team that completed the last successful waiver claim. This "rolling" list stays in effect for the entire season.
To find your current position in the waiver priority list, go to the Coaches List via your League Overview page.
If nobody claims a player during the waiver period, he becomes a free agent. In a Custom League with no waiver period, all dropped players automatically become free agents.
If you place a player on waivers, you cannot reclaim that player until after the waiver period has expired. If, however, you decide that you do not wish to waive the player, you can cancel the transaction -- provided it has not yet been processed -- by viewing it from your team page and clicking on the Cancel button.
If you place a claim on more than one waived player at a time, each pending transaction will appear on your Team Page along with its current position in your waiver order. All new claims get appended to the end of the list, but you can alter this priority by viewing each pending claim and changing its priority in the box provided.

Might be interesting to add up the time between draft choices, to compile a "total time on the clock" for each team. Then we can see who really held up the draft. :paranoid

Going by last year, there was a thread for trash talking, and just CFFFL talk overall, but there wasn't actually a thread for making official roster moves, not like these official draft pick threads. Once the teams & players are inserted over on yahoo.com, then all the moves are made through the yahoo website.
Don't know if that is what you are asking, but there you go.
Hold up timeout, stop the presses. PSN are you telling me you went 15 rounds and drafted ONE RB? :-D :-D Don't give me this " I had to juggle 2 drafts and got mixed up" stuff either. That's just sad. You took my QB and it came back to haunt you I see ;)
Maybe there's still a 3rd string RB out there for you. :-D I can't believe you drafted a defense in the 4th round a TE in the 5th, 2 QBs in the first 3 rounds. I thought my draft last season was one for the record books (it was :-[) but this takes the mofoin cake. :o

Jimmy Smith? That would be Tomahawk.

dang MURP, I just looked at your team. How in the bleep did you pull that much RB depth out of your azz? You bastich! ;)
Quote from: NoneBetta on August 17, 2003, 04:17:31 AMHow in the bleep did you pull that much RB depth out of your azz? You bastich! ;)
By drafting two QBs that end with "
ington", four unproven recievers, a psycho and a San Diego reject who can't spell Michael correctly at tight end, a mid range kicker, and two porous defenses, one with a Brian Bosworth wannabe in the middle.
But I do like the RB stable, although goaline carries might suffer for TJ and Adrian considering Vicks boo boo and Corn Puffs sucking.
Besides that, great team! ;)
Vick's injury isn't doing the Melvinators much good either, being as I picked Price and Finneran for recievers. :-[

Chuck also has Shockey, who broke a rib....not too much of a biggie, but, wow, rough weekend for him.
Also, it sounds like it might be time for a rate-the-teams prognostication. Top three anyone?
Look, I have always loved joneszilla, but waiting so long, almost 24 hrs for this last pick is an unfair advantage. I say you have to envoke the Darnell Autry rule and wrap this puppy up ... or is that the Damon Moore rule. ???
Joneszilla is all about fairness, and if he were here, I think he would agree that this is the way it has to be. :P
well i can just say that he cannot pick any player who will be starting now because of an injury over the weekend. Ala Doug Johnson of the Falcons.
I have just started to enter the draft lists over at Yahoo. Its a tediously slow process, but i should have it done by Tuesday night. Depends on how busy work is on Mon and Tues. Might be done before that, but im giving myself a bit of leeway.

Please read carefully
i will be submitting the draft results to Yahoo. From what i know there will be a 2 day waiver period after i submit the results. The waiver list is the opposite of the draft order. After the 2 days, all players not on any team become FA and can be picked up by anyone at anytime. When WESLEY WALLS becomes available he is property of REIDME. So do not, under any circumstance select Wesley Walls on the waiver wire or when he becomes a FA. When Yahoo finally puts Walls on the FA list, Reidme will select him.
Good job. :yay
Nevermind PSN, already see that you made a trade.
Freagin Orlando Pace is pissin me off! Faulk comes back and goes off for 100+ total yards and 2 TDs, but I need Pace back in the mix!
