The Lions are supposed to be good against the run and weak against the pass.

haha...well done
The Lions have no running game, at least we can focus on the pass this game.
Their defense sucks so maybe this offense can get back on track. Who knows with this team anymore. As bad as this team looks they just can't lose to the farging Lions can they? If they do then whew man. Book your space on the Ben Franklin bridge.
The Lions are going to be tough. They bought into what Rod Marinelli is trying to do and I don't know how the Eagles are going to match up against their WRs. And Tatum Bell has been playing really well for them, he's a threat out of the backfield early on.
Unless the offense turns it around, I expect more of the same. We may just have to face it that this team just might not be any good anymore. This could be the beginning of the players not buying what Andy Reid is preaching anymore, especially considering the pussified approach the Eagles had yesterday in regards to how they played offense; no aggression whatsoever.
Ahh remember the days when the Eagles players stopped responding to Ray Rhodes threatening to have the other team rape their mothers.... Those were the days.

If Lito is out again then it doesn't even matter. The Lions could tell the Eagles they will throw EVERY SINGLE PLAY and Williams, Calvin or whoever will farging embarass Will James over and over.
The Eagles defense has been pretty good the first two games. I'm not sold on the Lions offense yet. It hasn't looked that great in the first two games. They just beat two mediocre teams.
We'll see on sunday I guess.
HOMER ALERT!
Eagles go 3-0 starting this Sunday. My $20 against your $50 says to so the first taker.

What a dumb farging post.
They played Oakland, a top ten defense from a year ago, and hung 31 points on them. They played Minnesota, another top defense and moved the ball easily, completely abandoning the running game. They have one of the greatest offensive minds in the game today as an offensive coordinator, and giant, fast, ultra-talented receivers, and a QB more than capable of getting them the ball. Easily the best offense the Eagles have faced so far, but I'm sure somehow the Eagles defense will do much better than the past two games, also, the up-to-this-point completely inept Eagles offense is sure to keep the game close.

The Vikings pass defense blows. Oakland did have a good defense a year ago, I'll give you that. I didn't say we will magically shut down their offense. I said I am not sold on it yet. It is going to take more than two games for me to start believing in a team that historically has been a disappointment.

Yeah they are. Especially since I've got CJ in the keeper league.
Brian Westbrook has the most targets of any pass catcher on the Eagles. Total of 20, with 14 receptions, and 112 yards. That gives him a reception percentage of 70%.
The next guy after him is Kevin Curtis. 16 targets, 6 receptions for 81 yards. Reception percentage: 37.5%.
Third is Reggie, 14 targets, 3 receptions, 41 yards. Percentage: 21.4%
Jason Avant, 9 targets, 8 receptions, 109 yards, one TD. Percentage: 89%
Reggie is the lowest in the league among players with at least five targets, Curtis is in the bottom ten. Awesome.

He's going to have 2 TDs at least.
What will really be awesome is if JT O'Sullivan plays QB and lites 'em up.
I can't believe they're giving us 7 points on the spread.
Bet the house on Detroit.

Most of the misses to Curtis have been long bombs thrown well beyond him or out of bounds. It's not like he's been wide open, but McNabb's also not giving him an opportunity to make a play.
Brown's been really awful.
Avant's been stellar. No complaints. However, he has to be a bit more careful with the ball after the catch. He almost fumbled on the TD in Green Bay and then again on a catch against the skins.

Lost in the McNabb brouhaha is the fact that we're going to lose to Detroit and everythings going to be even messier than it was before.
Calvin Johnson is gonna have his NFL coming out party against Will James.
is lito out for sure or is there a chance he plays.
wont matter really...i predict 24-7 lions. our offense finally but not much more and det has its way against our secondary. i can just imagine considine being stiff armed by one of thier WRs.
also i predict another 1 yd screen pass to greg lewis.

Normally, I feel that in any NFL game, especially ones early in the season, there is a chance for either team to pull off a win. Not this time. Short of a disastrous injury for the Lions, the Eagles lose this game.
Think about it. The offense has show ZERO ability to put points on the board. The defense, while it has shown to be somewhat solid, is not going to stop Detroit from scoring 20+ points. And as I stated, there is no proof the Eagles offense can match that.
If they came out and just pounded the ball non-stop with West, Hunt, and Buck, then I'd feel a win would be in the bank. Remember who is setting up the gameplan as we post away...
Calvin Johnson has a place this week on my 1st place Salary Cap League team.

No like, how I called the Eagles would make the playoffs after McNabb went down last year.
Just because my view of the Eagles is only
slightly more positive then the general whiny bastiches on here doesn't make me wrong. Infact, considering the team has made the playoffs 6 out of the last 7 years, I think the "homers" have proooobably been right about a hell of a lot more then the sky is falling this team blows corner.
That being said, please find a coach who knows what a running play is. A coach who knows his best weapon is wearing 36, not 86. If he doesn't change the way he coaches, this team isn't going to make the playoffs or contend for a title for a long long time. Hey I have a good idea...lets pass 40 times a game with a starting QB who's 9 months removed from ACL Tear.

Like the positive attitude man!
But this is what blows my mind... (similar to the dude above) :-o
-If reid wants to throw the ball 70 % of the time fine... but why in hell would you not spend some money on receivers then? I mean ok I hate to say anything good about TO but when he was here nobody really gave a crap what the run/pass ratio was. Its not that we cant throw the ball, its just that we cant throw the ball with these receivers!
And this WR debacle makes us look retarded for not keep stallworth... drug issues or not
what drug issues did stallworth have? was he suspended for anything or fined?
i just know they took the injury excuse and ran with it...where as we have plenty of injury prone guys already on the team who always make the teams so that was just BS. and he didnt really get a huge contract so he wasnt really asking for too much. TO had to go but not re signing Stallworth might be one of the dumbest moves this FO has ever made...esp if Curtis continues to play like he has.
You're right about the injury stuff... the eagles obviously didnt treat McNabb the way they treated Stallworth... must be because Stallworth is black
Actually, we haven't seen what these receivers can really do, with the suck ass way McNabb has been throwing. Not one single pass did I see hit any receiver in stride or on the numbers until the late in the fourth quarter. By that time is was too little too late.
Regardless, we need to run more to win.
That's horseshtein. Brown has more drops than catches (if not, it's close). Curtis can't get open, I'd expected better. Thank God for Baskett and Avant, though. The starters have been overthrown, but they haven't shined either.

For the money he's making, he should catch anything that touches his hands.

McNabb was fantastic. Throwing bullets on the money. I was pleasantly suprised. It was a record breaking game, second most pts. scored in franchise history. Things are looking up, there seems like there is a light at the end of the tunnel, and all you can say is.........yay team.
it is not proper to be happy after a win such as this where we were coming in 0-2 and had a very good chance of going 0-3....but its quite right to predict doom and gloom to no end after a loss.
you farging homers are too much
it has nothing to do with being happy after a win, i've been ecstatic all day
it's about stupid Shorefunhole having to jump on during the farging game and quoting IGY saying he can't get open, like the first two weeks don't really count...and then he qualifies that by saying "And dont even try to say it's because they are playing Detroit"
oh ok, so opponent doesn't matter, and previous performance doesn't matter, got it. Kevin Curtis rules.
Whats really too much is how you get your panties all wadded up over something I post.
Hey, all my post are there for anyone to quote when I'm wrong. The diff is I don't care. I've been wrong before, and I'll be wrong again.
Previous preformances dont' matter? You mean two games out of Curtis's entire career? He never got open when he played for the Rams?? Yeah, I'm excited about what kind of game he had even if it's against a team like Detroit. But I'm no more excited than you were all bitchy and whiney about how bad they looked in the first two games.
You claim that all us "homers" want to get all excited over a win against a team with a crap defense. Well, after the first two games all that was heard from you and yours is how bad we suck, McNabb sucks, Curtis sucks, the coach sucks, and anyone who disagrees can die in a car crash on Christmas eve.
farg you, don't dish it out if you can't take it.

there is no place for us homers on this board. we have to face the music.
what i find funniest is that we are homers and supposedly never criticized the team, FO, mcnabb, or any other player as soon as we make one positive post or defend mcnabb during the QB/race issue.

Who said all the Eagles are awesome? You?
I swear, I don't know why some of you even watch.
One game no more makes a season than the first two. I have no illusions of the Superbowl, yet. And yet all week long it was Curtis can't get open, McNabb's tenure here is over, he is a whiney coddled bitch, the eagles have no pass rush, again detroit will be ballin. What will shorebird say when the Eagles lose to Detroit?
Well guess what, you were all WRONG AGAIN.
McNabb was fantastic. Throwing bullets on the money. I was pleasantly suprised. It was a record breaking game, second most pts. scored in franchise history. Before this game, I thought McNabb should be benched. I wanted to hang Andy Ried.
Well, 384 yds, over 90% completion rating and 4 tds, along with a balanced attack goes a long way towards changing my mind. Still, there is a lot more football to be played.
But I feel better about making the playoffs after seeing that yes, this team will run the ball.

The Eagles came out and blasted a team for a change. Cool. So why'd they have to spot everyone two games before they decided to play?
Lurie told them to suck for the first 2 weeks so that they could get their first win of the season while wearing the throwback jerseys which will prompt supersticious idiot fans to run out the Modells and buy them.

I think the idea was that if the Eagles go 0-3, and everybody is in an uproar and wants Reid's/McNabb's/Lurie's head on a platter, they would have to come up with a ridiculous enough costume that would make people laugh so hard that they forget the whole winless thing. Selling the jerseys if they won was purely serendipitous.

for the record i said curtis wouldnt consistently get open against #1 and 2 corners in the nfl...and so far he hasnt
McNabb played much better today. He was able to plant and throw, instead of arm throw, and wow, his accuracy improved.
He also had 8-10 sec to throw every ball.
Westbrook finally got utilized, as did the running game. Amazing how that works.
And Curtis was sitting alone all by himself for both those long TDs, completely broken coverages by a horrible defense yesterday. Even his other TD he was wide open.
They got plenty of good defenses to face before we start popping the champagne corks. And "I'm not thinking Superbowl, yet", means you are but don't want to admit it. Realism is somewhere in the middle.
Encouraging: McNabb threw with good form for the first time this season, Reid used the running game.
The rest is wait and see (we won't know until after the bye, NYG suck).
yeah, Im proud of Kevie that he got open in zone coverage, but until he does it against good corners that press up and play man, he might change my mind.
I mean, does Reggie Brown suck that bad? You know damn well they had plays drawn up for him
I was interested in reading the Lions' take on the game and came across this on Lions.com.
Lollerskates (http://www.detroitlions.com/document_display.cfm?document_id=461337)
Check the replays fellas... on two of Curtis' TD's he was as open as he was because of a move he made on the corners. Especially the 2nd one where he was all alone (the 40 yarder)... one replay they showed, you could see him put a stop and go on the corner and left him behind.
Note: NO... I am not saying that Curtis is the best WR the Eagles have ever had... and NO... I'm not saying that the Lions have a pair of shutdown corners out there. Relax... all I am saying is that it was a little more than "broken coverage".
the stop n go was completely broken coverage...the corner didnt even see curtis' stop n go...he was already coming off him to cover the middle fo the field
Curtis is the greatest wide receiver ever to play the game.
Case closed.
Curtis being so wide open was a mix of 3 things: First and foremost the O-line giving McNabb forever to throw the ball, second Curtis dekes ala Stallworth last season, 3rd the Lions DBs biting on every fake and leaving huge holes in coverage allowing a speedy WR to do his thing. Stallworth was effective doing the same thing last season, when he was open deep he was OPEN deep, and it was usually a breakdown in coverage with him making a small move to get open.
The two deep bombs were effective for one reason. The Detroit secondary sucks ass. Hard. He was wide farging open because no one in their secondary had any idea what their assignments were. It was embarrasing, really.
It certainly doesn't anoint Curtis the next coming of Jerry Rice.
i didnt see curtis shake anyone....what i saw were perfectly run routes schemed by coaches who knew exactly what the terrible corners/safties would do
they were things of beauty in terms of how the plays were written up and how well curtis ran the routes...but lets not pretend curtis was ankleing people out there like stallworth

Again... check the replay. There's one they have from the ground level facing McNabb and you can clearly see the CB stop with Curtis and fail to recover as Curtis ran to the end zone.

I'm inclined to agree with you. I'm not making Curtis out to be something he's not... I'm just saying that he had a little something to do with making the plays look wide open as well.
we must be talking about different plays

Stallworth never made great moves to get open, it was always one juke then using his speed to get open. It was no different with Curtis, they broke down the replays lastnight and he did nothing different than what Donte was doing last season. Even the play that he was wide open he deked inside the DB broke that way then he turned it outside. Despite the DB misplaying it it was all Curtis and not some magical scheme drawn up by father of the year and his cronie.

Y'know something... we were. I misspoke about which play it was. It wasn't Curtis's 3rd TD... it was his 1st where he put on a nice out and up move where the corner was running with him and bit on that. Still, was a nice move.

Love the weasel words - you can define "consistently" and "#1 corner" however you like so that you turn out to be right. Try making a statement that you can be held accountable for oh wise one.
Anyway, fugly jerseys FTW. If they continue to play like that I can deal with the colors - hey, it wasn't that far from the 'bolts pale blue unis.
I have to give the loss to Wash to McNabb. The plays were there, the receivers open, he was just missing the throws big time.

youre reaching dook and its not pretty
Was it the second TD that Curtis was all alone, almost standing still with no one within 10 yards of him? That was broken coverage for sure. The other two were bad coverage, not broken, and Curtis using his speed to get so open.
Also igy, for the record, I said I thought he could provide a deep threat for this team after Stallworth left. In no way am I saying he's headed for the hall of fame, and one great game does not make a good season. Still, as a fan, I can't help but have a different outlook after the pure asswippin' that this team put on Detroit yesterday. The Giants defense is better, but not by much. They've given up 799 passing yards and 307 rushing yards, along with 13 td's in three games. linc (http://www.nfl.com/stats/categorystats?archive=false&conference=null&role=OPP&offensiveStatisticCategory=null&defensiveStatisticCategory=TEAM_PASSING&season=2007&seasonType=REG&tabSeq=2&Submit=Find) The Eagles on the other hand, for as bad as they looked the first two games and as bad as most all of us thought they would be against the run, have only allowed 215 rushing yards, and 769 passing. They are ranked third in the league agasint the rush with a 71.7 yard avg.!! Even agasint the teams they've played, no one could have predicted that stat.
So yeah, with the Giants getting lucky and beating the Skins, I'm fired up for this game and think a win would go a long way towards making a wild card.
And as for igy covering his ass with his comments, so be it. At least you can have a debate with him and not be asked to walk out in traffic, tell someone how a players balls taste, or die in a car crash getting hit by a runaway Dominos driver. Gotta' respect him for that.
