Title: CFFFL 2006
Post by: MURP on June 14, 2006, 10:33:38 AM
This years CFFFL will be set up differently than past years.  We set it up this way to allow for more people to join in and to have more action on the waiver wire throughout the year etc.  Since the setup is different than years past, It may not please everyone, but if you want to play this year just deal with it.

League is free, no money involved.

There are two divisions, AFC and NFC.    Diomedes is the commish of the AFC and I commish the NFC.   There will be an equal number of teams in each division.   We are looking at probably 15 or 16 teams per division.   Of course that many teams sounds ridiculous, but we have revamped the postion lineups to make it fun.

Both AFC and NFC are doing a live draft via Yahoo.  NFC Draft is Tue Jul 25 8:00pm EDT  .  AFC Draft is Sat Aug 12 5:00pm EDT.  As far as I am concerned, these draft times are pretty much set in stone.   Yahoo does not have many times left for a live draft that are not in the middle of the day.   The drafts will probably take about 2 hours to do via Yahoo live draft.   If you know now that you absolutely cannot make it to one draft time but could make it to the other division draft we can try and work something out.  If you are signing up for this league you should be available to show up for that amount of time when the draft starts.   Yahoo automatically makes the draft order about 30 minutes before the draft.  So be prepared.

This year will be a points league as opposed to Head to Head.  The major reason for this switch is so we can get more people in the league among other things.

Position lineups are
1 QB
2 RB
3 WR
1 TE
1 K
3 any defensive players
3 total bench players

Yeah, 3 bench players.  Welcome to strategy and the waiver wire.  No more 5th string RB's rotting on the bench all year.  Welcome to the bye week fargin you up.

The points system will be very similar to last year with some minor tweaks for defensive players etc.  That hasnt been hashed out yet, but doesnt matter for now.  It will be figured out long before the drafts.

Right now I am assuming the AFC players from last year and NFC players from last year are all back.  Even so, I need confirmation on this thread that you are in and will be available at the scheduled draft time.    There was interest on the other thread from people who have not played previously,  please sign up here.  Again, we think 16 teams in each division will be fine.

any other questions please let us know.     After you confirm you are in Dio or I will send you sign up info for Yahoo to get into your division.

whiny bitch diomedes and his disdain for everything mds appears to be a meaningless one, because with the sudden increase in teams, the return of the Zordichs are upon us. gather one and all, for the 2nd coming of the dominate fantasy football force known for theyre awsome bushy moustache and complete lack of athelticism.

I think that is probably the route to take.  Leaders of each division after week 15 will play head to head week 16 in the superbowl.

Sacks are either weighted too heavily or interceptions/forced fumbles/and fumbles recovered should be worth more points. Obviously that's just my opinion and I'm not trying to change the world or anything though I would appreciate for any response to be in English.

When you say "Bench Players" you mean that we can only have three inactive players for a given week, correct? So for eleven alloted positions, we can have three positions to use as backups/bye week fillers? That'll be interesting. I like that idea. This'll be my first league playing defensive players, so I'll get stomped, but as long as I am in for a shot at the pot.....er......pot of fun, I'm game.

you have 14 total roster spots.   11 starters each week in the given positions listed.   3 backups can be any position players but their points dont count towards your total that week if they do not start.

Still too early.  He was wildly overrated in the pre-season last year, and he proved it.

Then again, so were Daunte Culpepper and Donovan.  Tom Brady was my QB in the league I won last year, and I got him in the 6th round or so.  I rule.

pts are awful in any sport but especially so in football

plus with no money in the league shtein talkin is all we have and if you dont go head to head with people what good is that

plus with head to head you can come back easier...have one or two really bad weeks with pts and its super hard to ever get back to have a chance to win it all

whatever tho with no money it doesnt really matter just my two cent

because in a head to head league you need an even amount of teams in each league.  So there could not be 15 or 17 team in a league because that would create a bye week.   I wanted to try and get as many people in as possible without having to deal with that.   end of story.

Quick question,
With 16 teams in the NFC, and seventeen teams in the league, some unlucky bastich is going to be stuck with a backup QB and/or a backup kicker, RB, etc, correct?
Title: Re: CFFFL 2006
Post by: MURP on June 19, 2006, 03:09:46 PM
we dont have a final team count yet.  Still working it out.     You only start 1 QB so there should be a starter for everyone obviously.   Starting 2 RB's, yes technically someone would have backup RB's.  But many teams in the league use multiple RB's so it doesnt matter as much.

Quick question,
With 16 teams in the NFC, and seventeen teams in the league, some unlucky bastich is going to be stuck with a backup QB and/or a backup kicker, RB, etc, correct?

Maybe I'm misunderstanding you?

The CFFFL NFC and AFC are drafting seperately, from the entire pool of NFL players.  With 32 NFL teams, that means the only reason a CFFFL team wouldn't have a starting QB would be because the team manager chose a back-up instead of a starter.

Dio, the way I understand it, is that if you have a team that is the NFC league, you can only have players from the NFC. I saw that there were seventeen teams (possible) in an earlier post. I guess my confusion stems from how many total teams there will be in the entire league. Is the seventeen a total, for the entire  :CF FFL, or is that a number for each conference?

My original question should have been, if there are possibly seventeen  fantasy teams for each conference (AFC/NFC) and only sixteen actual NFL teams in each conference, they will be a lot of backups drafted, right?

Post by: Diomedes on June 20, 2006, 02:29:37 PM
We need to get everyone registered so MURP and I can figure out how many more people can fit into the leagues.  I've sent registration info to the following following AFC managers, but you bastiches haven't signed up.  Go register, please.

Mad-Lad
Seabiscuit36
phillymic2000
Sarge

If you lost/don't have the registration info, let me know and I'll send it again.

I set up the NFC draft for 8pm on the 25th, sometimes on the league page it says 5pm... then I reload the page and it says 8pm.   If I click "add to my calendar" in Yahoo it says 5pm-8pm.   The countdown seems to indicate an 8pm start.   Can anyone figure out what the deal is with that?   Same thing in AFC?

Yahoo loves it some pacific time zone.

P.S.  Our main league page clearly states...
QuoteYour live online draft is set for Sat Aug 12 5:00pm EDT [ Add to My Calendar ], which is 35 days, 23 hours, and 38 minutes from now (test your system). Please arrive at least 10 minutes early since your draft will start promptly at the assigned time. You can rank your players up until 45 minutes before your draft.

Does it have anything to do with the fact that the draft order isn't determined until three hours prior to the draft?  Also, this is a live draft and is not going off some list that we have to create on yahoo or even worse, automatically picks someone that YAHOO selects.
