This will surely delight our resident France haters...
Lance may return to Tour de France: "I'm thinking about it," Armstrong told The American Statesman's Suzanne Halliburton. "I'm thinking it's the best way to piss (the French) off," he added.

You posted in the thread so obviously you do.
By the way, now that you're actually a resident of Boston, you seem to be whining quite a bit more than usual. I think you should get the farg out of there before you devolve any further into a simpering New England bitch.
Just lookin' out for you, bro.

You missed Jerome's sarcasm, I believe.
Dio's having a tough time getting jokes today. ;)
:-D
I for one like this news. The French are evil, and need to be stopped.
All this means is that we all have to endure another year of Lance Armstrong worship. Yes, he's amazing. Yes cycling is difficult. Yes he gets to hammer out the back of Cheryl Crow every night. You know what? I don't give a shtein. I'm sick of hearing about him. If he participated in tackle cycling THAT would rule, but plain old bicycling is about as boring as sports gets.
I know. I've watched a total of 30 seconds of his 7 wins. But I'd rather see him win it than some European douchebag.
I agree with rjs. I'm sick of him as well. Plus, the sight of fat old men wearing those retarded yellow rubber bracelets has caused me increased irritation over the past year or so.
They're not fashion accessories, you trend-sucking morons, so stop wearing them as if they were.

What, Lance's statement about returning? Yeah, it seems tongue-in-cheek to me also.
I think he meant our country's collective hard on for all things Lance.

yes to both
it's changed again...
QuoteArmstrong first hinted that he might ride again in comments Monday to the Austin American-Statesman. After first calling the comments a joke, Higgins said Armstrong told him Tuesday he was contemplating whether to ride again.
Mmmmmm... Sheryl Crow.

lance armstrongs my hero.
not cuz he bikes..
he gets to bang that every night.. and he has no balls. :boom
Dude he totally has one ball.
It's like I've always said about Armstrong and the French... in the land of the ball-less, the one-balled man is king.

Many of top post-Lance contenders banned from this year's TdF for drugs (http://sports.espn.go.com/oly/tdf2006/news/story?id=2505072)
OOOOPS
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/14059185/
It doesn't say anything about his Tour title being stripped from him. Weird.
I gotta say that the US media doesn't seem to be blowing this one off like they were with Armstrong all that time. It's almost like they think this time, there's some credibility to the accusations.
Or... this guy hasn't had as much time to endear himself to the U.S. public and hasn't made a comeback from testicular cancer, so the media feels it's more PC to go after Landis as opposed to Armstrong.
The more I hear about this, the more it seems like Landis likely did nothing wrong.
My question is: If there is a mechanism for a second test to verify, why has this already been publicly announced? Shouldn't it wait until after the 2nd test?
A guy being interviewed on PTI yesterday said that Landis was taking cortisone and something else for his hip (with the knowledge of the Tour's governing body), and was speculating that these could have caused the difference in the levels that were on the test.
Any doctors in the house? Is that explanation feasible?
I'm a doctor. Yeah, it's feasible.
there was a cycling analyst on 950 Am last night talking about the cortisone thing too...he also mentioned that beer could also do this...which this guy did drink while the race was going on.
he also said that this was a very interpretive test. not a black and whit issue like if it had been a masking agent, blood doping, or some other drug.
i couldnt care less either way what happens to this guy or the tour de france...i am just passing along what i heard on the radio last night.
I can't see this dispute ending in a conclusive way at all. Looks like a cloud of uncertainty is destined to hang over this Tour forever. That's a shame because it really was a compelling race this time.
Is it possible the test returned a false positive for any of a variety of reasons? Yes.
Is it possible Floyd Landis used an illegal performance enhancing technique? Yes.
No matter how many tests Landis has in the future, the only evidence of what his body was like on the day of Stage 17 is in those two samples. If those samples have chemical levels that exceed what is permissible by the rules of the Tour, I don't see any way that can be possibly overturned.
The ESPN analyst said that the test didn't show that there was a high amount of testosterone in the system; actually, there was a LOW level of epitestosterone (you medical types can correct my spelling, as I don't feel like looking it up). He seemed fairly certain that Landis would be exonerated.
I agree with QB, though- at this point the horse is out of the barn. The only conclusive way at all to end it is to come up with hardcore evidence that Landis was doping. Anything else will leave too many questions unanswered.

It was publicly announced by his team, Phonak, not by the Tour de France. Apparently Phonak has a policy of suspending riders who test positive in any test, and I'm guessing they wanted to explain to the media why they decided to suspend the winner of the Tour de France.
Synthetic testosterone? This Landis guy is farged.
From my understanding, using testosterone - even the synthetic kind - doesn't provide an immediate benefit. It's something that you take for weeks, months, or years ahead of time...not on the last couple days of a race. Showing up with clean tests for 2/3 of a race and then having a positive test for testosterone doesn't make sense.
Either Landis is incredibly stupid, there is an error with the testing, or somebody spiked his test. Or maybe he just forgot to load his Whizzinator with the clean stuff. :sly

Well, the French do hate us. But still... That's like saying Mark Fuhrman planted O.J.'s glove.

Yep. He cheated. Show's over.
My buddy's mom (a Mennonite from the same area) goes to the same church as the Landis's. The inside scoop is that they absolutely trust that there is no wrongdoing there, except by the Frenchies testing the sample.
Oh well. Either way, he's farged.

Oh and they are whacko, trust me I am from that area. On the other hand most of "those people" tend to be extremely honest and hard working. It is difficult for me to believe that this guy cheated.
You church goin', military-joinin' folk are awful large on trust. I'm not a fan of the concept.
:-D Well you got half of that right about me, as far as church goes I have gone exactly 2 times in since I been about three, both were during Basic Training so I could get out of the barracks for a little while. I am not at all religous in fact my beliefs are not looked upon fondly in my area. I am just saying typically men from Landis' sect tend to be very honest and hard working, so I find it hard to believe the guy is a cheater. Then again with the way the cycling world is today I also would not be shocked if the allegations are true.

An international arrest warrant was just issued for Landis for a computer hacking case at the doping lab where his samples were analyzed.
