any questions, comments, smack talk reguarding the NFC should be posted in this thread. thanks.
In the Football Trivia forum? ???
just until the NFC draft is over. I dont want to have mass confusion with the multiple drafts going on this year. After the fantasy draft is over i'll move everything back into the fantasy forum.
Great. When do we start?

we are starting. :P ;D
draft order is first priority..
Okay, done. I'll take the first pick. ;)
I'll take the 4th or 5th pick....i don't like having 1-3....
ill take ricky! i was the bearer of bad news last nite for a so-called dolphins fan. its was sweet watching his jaw drop slowly and the life of his eyes leaving. his girl came up to me later that night and was like thanks alot for ruining my nite. i was like, anytime sweetheart, anytime. :yay
so when u thinking of having draft day murp-diddy?
lmao about that Ricky story.
not sure when the draft will start... once we get the order done and I get the draft thread stuff set up we can get a move on. Probably start in a few days. I will give some notice ahead of time... but everyone in this league should be on the board everyday anyway. ;)
and just so we can keep track of whom to yell at about being slow in our league... we have in the NFC:
PG
Mussa
Joneszilla
Mikey
Thawk
Phillyphreak
Troystewart
NB
Zanshin
Murp
id wait until preseason is over.

lol. yeah... try and fit a 17 round draft into a few days eh? fat chance
i believe last years draft started at the start of August. I can extend it a bit later than that. But in the end, injuries are injuries and every team has to deal with it.
We should start the draft in the early part of a week, like a Monday so that everyone will be at work everyday for the first 5 days and we can get it rolling. I don't know if anyone else is like me but I'm not on during the weekends as I don't have a comp at home and I'm usually busy doing non-comp stuff as I get enough comp stuff during the week.
Just a suggestion I'll go either way.

Well I don't have a computer at work bitch :bash
I can check in during the day since I work nights. I think I only held up the keeper league one time for around 3 hours. That's not bad when compared to some others..... (pole chug brothers)

Point taken. But that was on day one of the draft, and I didn't know the draft was starting until that night when I got home due to my movie experience.
Where is Thawk? He's usually on every day isn't he?

I agree with the mandatory list idea...it will help speed things up. ;D

I got a new job where I work on site for the client. Word on the street has it that they're very strict about which websites you go to. Since this is my first week, I don't want to upset them with Asian Porn.

That's the gayest thing I've ever heard regarding FF. We have 2 months until season, you guys need to relax a little if someone doesn't have a list or makes you wait. Yes that was me twice last year, but MANY other people made us wait too.
Losing a pick is not an option, that would ruin the whole draft.
If we would have done that last year, 2/3rds of the teams in the league would have lost atleast one pick. Making it mandatory may change that a little, but a lot of teams would still get screwed.
A lot of us have lives, where we can't sit around 24/7 waiting for our picks. I could spend 7 hours checking in to see if my pick is up, and the moment I leave my pick comes up, then a whole other round goes by and another pick comes up before I get back. I'm not going to be giving lists of 20+ picks each time I leave the comp.

Last year PG rode Peyton Manning to the championship game, while we were giving her a hard time for having the worst stable of running backs in fantasy football playoff history. The guy is automatic to put up the best numbers in the game each year. Plus it doesn't hurt that he plays in a dome come winter.
yea i remember saying last year how i would pick peyton if i got a number one pick. i had mcnair last year, but he was out sometimes, he still produced alot. but peyton has to be the first.
please remember... all comments go on this thread. The draft thread is only used for selecting your player when you are up to draft. I have deleted the comments on the draft thread.

damn...that was quick.
I just wanted to get started before Mussa changed his mind. Not that Peyton is a bad pick, but I wanted to get either LT or Priest Holmes and I thought they'd be gone for sure in the top 2. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D If I wasn't white, I'd dance all over the office. :D

Send an farging list... and go live your life.
I don't like sending lists, but if I have to I will. Luckily my girlfriend understands I have to check in very often to see if it's my pick.
I am usually on all day and not at nite. But i will bring home my computer now that the draft started. Just in case Murp, call my cell if I am holding things up at some point.
We have a month and a half until the season, calm down. This is a 10 team league, the draft will go fast. If you have some agenda that calls for finishing the draft a month before the season, then go join another league. ;)

Stop being a whiner. If you're not going to be around...or if CA time gets in the way, send a list with a few players on it. It would take you literally two minutes, provided you're not an idiot.

Sending in picks sucks, you never know what the people in front of you are going to do. I don't have time to cover every possibility, make a list that covers 2 rounds (20 picks) every time I leave the computer. That's just lame, we have ALL the time in the world to finish this draft.
And this is based on the monsterous success you had with your fully thought-out strategy last year? How much worse off would you be?
Okay, not this crap again.
Obviously we have a different idea of fun.
I'm giving up my spot to whomever is next on the list to play in the League.
Murp, do you need me to drop my team from yahoo, or can you do it? I'm still in for the keeper.
No, you're just a tool who doesn't have regard for anyone else's time. I have no desire to keep checking back to see if and when you've deemed it necessary to make your brainiac pick. It's a waste of my time.
No big deal. I'm out so I don't have to be annoyed. It's easy.
now that we started i quick made a list of the top players i want for the positions, i had all the players picked on my list so im checkin them off as this gets going. by the time number 20 & 21 rolls around i should have a decent shot a two more decent starters.
so yea murp keep me on speed dial too if i don't respond in time, ill let u know who i want if im not on the computer.

Ahhhhhhhhh did I hurt your feelings?
It's simple, we have all the time in the world, the draft is supposed to be fun, not some anal bith convention about timing, lists, and proper conduct.
That is the reason we are doing it on the board, so we all can enjoy the flexability of the draft.
And in a 10 team league, you can't just send a list of a couple names, it needs to be double digits everytime because most of us will be away from the comp for long periods of time everyday to, you know deal with life.
No, actually, most of us would like a live draft but it seems impossible to find time for all the league to agree on. I want to get the draft over as soon as farging possible so my girlfriend doesn't castrate me. :paranoid
So if you're up in
less than a round, send a farging list if you're going away from the computer. I see no reason why we can't get at least one round done per day. Stop whining like a little bitch.

day one of the draft you might as well drop out, or you'll be nagging the whole time and make the draft a stress festival instead of being fun and relaxed as it should.

You're p()ssy whipped and I'm whining like a bith? Nice one.
Ok so if I send a list to cover my next pick, if the pick AFTER that comes up and I don't have a list for that will you be ok? Or do I have to give lists to cover mulitple picks?
If you 2 can accept a list that covers whatever my next pick is, then I'm fine with that. But I have a feeling there are going to be plenty of days when more than one pick will come up, so I'm I supposed to put lists for multiple picks?
Lists are great. People who don't utilize them suck donkeyballs & monkeynuts.
If five people are ahead of you, you know what player you want to draft. If one of those bastiches takes the presumably sucky player you want that was tops on your list, NB, you should have already had a back up in mind anyway.
Drafts take too long anyway. Anything to speed up the process is appreciated by more people than the single bitch who believes lists are gay. Personally, I don't think inanimate objects such as lists have a sexual preference. There is no doubt; however, that hbionic is a SwordSwallower.
lol...told you we should have traded for hbionic.
Asswipe, I have a girlfriend and 2 kids that would like to spend time with me. She understands my dedication, but when a draft drags on and on, both of us get sick of it.
If your pick is coming up soon, like 3 or 4 picks, send a list with a few players on it. Just be sure to check in as often as you can to see when your pick is up again and if you need another list.
Considering that it's very rare for more than a half round to go by in a two hour span, I'd suggest to check in as often as you can, even if it's on your gay lover's computer. Nevermind, hbionic won't remember the link anyway. 8)
c'mon...even hbionic has some standards.
Good God, shut the farg up already people.
Ok understood, but i can't check in all day everyday.
But if the understanding is that if my pick is 3-4 picks away I should send a list that is fine. I can do that easily.
Today I have to leave soon and won't be back on until later tomorrow, so since my next pick is well over 10 away I will not leave a list. If my pick comes up and you all have to wait, don't freak out because by your own words, I don't need to leave a list that long.
I understand the "unwritten list" rule now. We can now move on.

:'( don't leave dude!
Zanshin, just stay in dude. Don't quit the league because of me.
Alls I ever said was that we all need to relax, we have plenty of time. I never disputed lists, I simply made the case that I thought the draft would go fast and that if we were asked to make "long" lists, that would be lame. I never disputed short lists. Last year we had a 16 team draft, that was a disaster. This year we have a 10 team draft, that should go a lot faster.
I will always put in a list if my pick is coming up shortly.
Okay...I'm in as long as this doesn't turn into a monthlong argument. I have no interest in holding this thing up for anyone.
As long as it doesn't drag out and keep me tethered to the computer, I'm cool. Murp has my list.
Man...I leave for 1/2 hr and all hell breaks out. :-\
We have plenty of time. Lists help so people aren't sitting around all day and night waiting for their pick when some putz just isn't being courteous and being around. Murp is very good a following situational instructions also....he did well with mine in the keeper.
Z - don't drop out of the league....just kick his arse in the league to spit him. Don't be Ricky Williams, spoil his draft , steal his players, and beat him down on gameday.

Prolly researching his next 2 picks.
Geez, can't a guy poop? Besides I sent a list. 8)
Hehe.
Since the RBs were being eaten up, I went with Edge (since Jamal Lewis may miss time due to his court case) and the Marshall Faulk. It's a risk taking Faulk but I know he wouldn't be around in round three when I pick and the other person I was looking at also played for the Colts...and I didn't want to use my first 2 picks on players from the same team...cuz that would make their bye week a tough one for me.
heh, Im trying something REALLY different this year. :paranoid
Going to try to stack up on WRs instead of RBs. I did that two years ago (draft Faulk, Owens, Hines Ward) but the problem is getting 2 quality RBs and a quality QB. It worked well for me early on but I was left with Jay Fiedler as my QB. He was having a great year and the plan was working until he got hurt. And I to run a crappie RB out there hoping he'd get TDs since I knew they wouldn't rack up the yards. That strategy works since everyone is grabbing RBs....but you're guys have to stay healthy.
Usually you can get a quality "sleeper" QB in the 4th or 5th since people are targetting specific positions to fill in their starters.
Jones - I almost took Harrison but didn't want both him and Edge on my team...cuz that would have SUCKED when the Colts had a bye week.
in a 10 person league....i think you can use the stud WR strategy and win with it. Everyone will have a fairly loaded team from top to bottom.

oh yeah, that would suck. I was going to take Edge over Alexander. I think he is going to dominate this year. But i went with the guy with zero competition at the RB spot.
Jones you killed me with that Harrison pick, ya bastid.

Alright. Guess I won't be picking any time tonite. I guess i'll get back to working on the getting hammered thing my damn self.
I'll be back on tom. morning to see where we are.
Should I expect weekends to have little to no movement in the draft? I can't remember how it went last year.
thawk just farged up and didnt email me back... if he had done so yesterday I could have used the lists to get through a round. but whatever... Thawk wont have another chance to screw up after this so things will run smoothly.

Mikey helped us all out by reaching for Marsha 'no knees" Faulk.
Sure I did. Faulk is still Marshall Faulk and when he's healthy, he's a big fantasy performer. He was the highest guy left rated on my list....so I picked him. He'll kick your ass when we meet.

Good Call. The CEO said everybody must stop working at 2:30 and meet at a bar so he could buy us all drinks.
I'm going to spend the next couple of hours ranking the athletes and send a list of a shteinpile of players. Beginning Monday, I'll once again be on sporadically at best.

Thawk, stay on the board for a minute to pick again.. im putting Mussa's picks up in a second.

Ooooh...Mikey Kiper Jr. showing some fire! I like it.
I guess you missed the news that Faulk's knee is bothering him, he questioning his body's wear and tear, he's past the magical RB no longer performing age of 30 (he's 31) and that the Rams drafted Steven Jackson. Oh, another thing. Mike Martz, the king of pass, is still the head coach.
My team is going to dispose of your squad with ease, Nancy. :-*

:yay It is going pretty smoothly, I sent my list for my 5th round pick too.
I kept thinking of RBs to take as a lot of them are/were RBBCs or just crap, and then boom it hit me, Duuuuuuuuuuuce! ;D Yeah I know about the bus, but I'm hoping Duce gets a majority of the carries, and we know he'll be in on 3rd downs and passing situations over the bus.
i get a pittsburgh sports channel here and they said that the bus will be the 2nd back and Duce will be the "ICHIBAN" back at Pitt. So there ya go.
Soon after I was logged on yesterday, the battery on my retarded roommate's stupid laptop goes dead. I call him to ask his password so I can log back on after I hooked up the plug and he told me I should not have gone in his room so I don't need to get back online. farging paranoid freak.
I'm about a fifth of the way through of the hugh list. I apologize to all.
Next time you should cop a squat and leave him a present under his pillow. That'll teach him to not chastise you. ;)

Not long ago, he was taking (leaving?) a shtein. He left his door open so I encourage his 100+ pound Great Pyrenees, Cletus, to go into his room. The poor dog looked lost after that so I snapped my fingers and said "Come on Cletus, get up." After which the obedient dog jumped up on his bed.
Laughing at my job well done, I returned to the living room to continue watching the NFL Network. A few minutes later, I look over and see Cletus walking down the hall all hunched up. I quickly take him outside and tether him up so he can take care o' business. Much to my chagrin, Cletus had dropped a bomb in the hallway. Being the detective I am, I looked in my roommates bedroom. Much to my enjoyment, Cleet had also left a present in his master's bed! ;D
:-D
Good job. I'm sure ol' Cletus was laughing inside too.
:-D :-D :-D
Unbelievably, he blamed me. I told him just as you can lead a horse to water, but can't make him drink; I could get his dog to jump on his bed, but I couldn't make him poo.
Mikey, you have Hines Ward listed as a RB too.
SLOW DAY FOR A DRAFT EH?!?
Nice having back to back picks....but sucks watching all of the players come off the board while you wait for that turn to come.
tell me about it! :boom
I just wanted to say that I'm here...so don't use my list Murp :-D
I have gotten a couple lists with team defenses on them.... We are not using team defenses. We are starting 3 individual defenders. Any 3 defensive players.
Ahh. Though we were doing both. Sorry about that.
Sorry it took so long...really busy day at work. Someone please email me when I come up again. Thanks

No biggie either way. Nice pickup in TJ Hooker, I took a risk going for Dunn coming off foot surgery and TJ Hooker being the better TD option, but I just have a feeling on the new WCO suiting Dunn better, especially his increase in the passing game. Still a risk on my part, I'll probably wish I'd taken Hooker instead. :boom
No one can accuse me of "luck" this year.
Dmac
Deuce Mc
Travis Henry
TJ Duckett

Derrick Mason
Alge Crumpler
Nice team so far. Nothing overly spectacular (Deuce and Donny Mac being the most spectacular) but nothing that would make me "lucky" during the season.

That's what I did earlier, after working 12.5 hours, eating, napping for 65 minutes, I woke up and made my pick. I was almost running late for physical therapy though, so I didn't have time for a list.
I was waiting to make my pick then i ran out to a softball game and forgot to give Murp a list. So I called Murp to tell him my pick but there was no answer.
Damn you MURP. Damn you to hell!
Chris Brown was one of my "under the radar" picks.
Lee Suggs was my other.
I know he'll lose a few carries this year, but I'm surprised that Stephen Davis was still there in 8th round. Interesting.
Zanshin....Stephen Davis was taken rounds ago. Round 2.
Yeah? He's not on the list.
Keep up the lists! Okay... back to the drawing board.

Definately can't say luck this year. This is a strong draft IMO (can't believe you picked up Henry so late, but then again, in a draft where doofus picks Peyton Manning #1 overall when he would probably go in the second to third round....)
Murp has been chillin' with Ricky while making these picks. C'mon, fess up.

RB - Edge James, Marshall Faulk, Correll Buckhalter
WR - Joe Horn, Javon Walker, Isaac Bruce
TE - Marcus Pollard

THIS IS YOUR TEAM:
Starters: QB, WR, WR, RB, RB, TE, K, D, D, D,
Bench: BN, BN, BN, BN, BN, BN, BN
You will be starting 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 1 Kicker, 3 defensive players.

lol...and mandatory lists were a bad idea why exactly?
Because it would be wrong for Thawk to lose a pick because some on here felt they had to pick in the 10th round with over a month until the season. ::) Draft picks are crucial, even in the 10th round.
Lists are good and necessary I admit. What I don't understand is when Thawk gave his list for the last round, he should've known only Mussa standed in the way of his next pick. :boom

lol...you're counting on your 10th rounder that heavily. Is it this strategy that takes you so far every year?
Nevermind. The list question was rhetorical. If the pick is a few away, the list should have been a no-brainer. He's probably just sulking over Booker, anyway.
I know I know, I couldn't help it. I'm done you win. ;)

Depends on your draft strategy defense wise. I have a plan, and these guys fit into it at the top of my list. I have certain stats/numbers I am looking for in defensive players.
Well I am pretty happy with my team so far:
PManning
Westy
Charlie Murphy Garner
Chad Johnson
Steve Smith
Todd Heap
Akers Automatik
Ray Lewis
Donnie Edwards
My only weak spot is Charlie Garner. Westy is a bit of a gamble. He could have a blowout season or he could get injured. :-\

Probably. I thought of going a totally different direction (a few times). That's the tough thing about having the back to back picks.
You feel like you sort of have to nail them, because so many guys are gone by the next time you pick. Hard to say who might be there by then.
By the way, don't forget to update the overall player's taken list. That could get ugly with the d players.

Yeah...I was thinking that defensive players are going to start going like crazy and I can always pick up a kicker in a later round if I get a 'jump' on taking defensive guys first. The kickers that are left are basically all the same in terms of fantasy performance...

Yes, yes I did. You gotta problem with that? ;)
Oh, you were mad at him taking Stover. :-D :-D
kickers are disposable parts...like NB. :D
You can get them off the waiver wire with no problem.
I'm taking Bill Gramatica.

no list from you, and your up!
DAMN YOU PG!! DAMN YOU!!!
I was eying Leftwitch since the beginning of this draft and didn't take him with my last pick since I thought there was a good chance he'd make it until my next pick....but like always, I have a backup plan ;D
I was actually hoping to get Leftwitch as my starter but my damn list backfired and landed me Hasselback...

Dude STFU, when I left yesterday there was over 10 people before my next pick and it wasn't going anywhere. Pills are good. :-*
FYI, I accidentally erased all of my IM's a second ago. Sorry to the couple of people who sent me a list today.
*For the PGs*
I'm out of here for the day, although I might check up later.
I'm really far away on my next pick and this is going nowhere so I will be back tomorrow. :P

I'll check my outgoing IMs to see if any were left from my list and send you a revised list.
Damn i thought for sure i may hold us up after I made my last pick and I had to run out. Guess not. We are certainly milking these last few rounds.
Just woke up a little bit ago...I'll make my pick shortly.
Okay, I'm out of pocket for the day. Murp has my list and my cell #....
I will pick in a few minutes....meeting...
MURP, I sent a list...I gotta go get some sleep. I'll be back on around 5-530
I wish we would have picked Lloyd who I believe was still on the board when we got McMullen, but hopefully I'll be proven wrong by Billy soon enough. Everything is sounding good so far about him, well minus last season. :paranoid
Murp, didn't somebody already pick reggie wayne?
No, I don't see it on any of the picks.
yea i just checked, maybe i'll check next time before i post :-[
NB...good luck with this:
Dolphins' Boston Injured; MRI Pending
ESPN.com's Len Pasquarelli reports Miami Dolphins WR David Boston (knee) suffered an injury to his left patella tendon Friday, Aug. 6. His knee appeared to buckle under him without contact. Head coach Dave Wannstedt said the initial diagnosis was a strained patella tendon. He'll have an MRI to determine the severity of the injury. If the patella tendon is torn, it is typically a season-ending injury.

I know I know, it was a late round long shot anyway. I figured why not, he has the physical ability to dominate the game, I'll risk it and I got burned. Again it was a late rounder, and backup WRs come a dime a dozen in FF you know that ;)
BTW did MURP leave a list. :D :D
QuoteSteelers | Bell Sheds Weight - from www.KFFL.com
Sat, 7 Aug 2004 10:38:39 -0700
Gerry Dulac, of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, reports Pittsburgh Steelers LB Kendrell Bell has dropped nearly 20 pounds since last season and currently weighs 239. "I can move faster," Bell said. "I like it a lot more."
:o I wonder if that means he'll suck now because he is Sims weight ::)
MURP I made a list for my 16th pick coming up, then later decided to make a list for my 17th pick.
Then I made changes to both :bash, so sorry for flooding your mailbox with all these messages, but the third PM is the only one that counts. That has the changes/revised list for my last 2 picks.
Thanks.
I am likely to be gone until Monday.

He's not out for the season...just 4-6 weeks.
Where you see that Mikey? Last i heard he was getting 2 surgeries to place pins in his leg. 8-12 weeks at least they said.
Nevermind...i see what you mean, regular season games.
Does PG know that she's up???

yeah, I told her over an hour ago.
Give me a break, I was at the dentists and I just got into work and all hell broke loose here. Give me 10 minutes more.
Just so everyone is aware. I will be moving the CFFFL NFC threads back to the fantasy football forum now that the draft is complete. I guess we never really needed to have them in the trivia section since the AFC hasnt started their draft yet. You can view them there if need be.

ESPN claims that the Cardinals said he might be done for the season. Its in the Boldin article
Good draft Phreak :yay On paper that is one of the better drafts so far, but who knows how things will turn out of course with injuries and players on new teams or deminishing teams, etc.
